Ocean view was wonderful. Clean rooms. Pool could use a bit more attention as there was a pile of used towels and no fresh ones to use. Asked for fresh towels at the front and it did take quite a bit of time to get some. Overall the stay was very nice. Would come back again

The staff were amazing! When we arrived, they did not actually have my booking (which I booked using Expedia) but I had the confirmation email. They made sure to calmly go over some options for my family. We had a family loft room booked and they upgraded us to a larger accommodation that would be comfortable for myself and my four kids. House keeping came to our cabin each day to freshen up. The kids loved the outdoor pool, even though it was nothing special. We love the grounds of the resort and the lodge, even though it is old, it has a lot of character.

This was our second time at Painters. It is such @ nice place for a getaway. Close enough to restaurants and things to do, but tucked away for a relaxing experience.

My family of 4 with two littles under 5 stayed. We wanted a local staycation. Painter’s Lodge fit the bill for close to home, a pool for the kids, kid friendly place to eat, clean and tidy room, and lastly affordable price for a summer getaway- as I assume new ownership and incentive to stay! It was great! Pros: - new outdoor pool and patio was lovely, looked really beautiful and kids had a blast. I liked seeing everyone out on their patios enjoying the ambience - the clean room- even though we had a garden suite/facing parking lot, it was very quiet! And the black out curtains were perfect for our early risers to sleep in a little. Beds were clean and comfy! Bar fridge to pack a few kids snacks. - I loved walking the grounds. Went down to the dock to watch sunset. Lovely night! And then we all went exploring in the morning and played at the tennis court. - convenient restaurant with chicken strips and burgers that kids enjoyed. We loved watching the ships go by :) - staff were so friendly and sweet with the kids Few cons: - our balcony had some broken railings so kids couldn’t go out there - restaurant food could be a bit more creative with the menu for the price and more homemade options (ie. real bacon on the salad) Hope that’s helpful! I would stay again and I will recommend for others in the future ! It was fun to stay at a beautiful heritage property. The new ownership are doing a good job!

Painters Lodge is a beautiful place, however we stayed in the family loft suite and it was in desperate need of a renovation. The carpets were quite old and stained, the one bed squeaked so bad no one could sleep on it. We stayed for 5 nights and the housekeeping was terrible. We had to ask for towels as they would take the ones we were using and not replace them or refill with toilet paper. The room needed a good cleaning. The rest of the lodge was lovely, beautiful views, great outdoor pool, good gym, private wharf. The front desk staff were fantastic. The restaurant was just reopening when we visited, food was okay but service was great. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

We can’t say enough about this place, it’s an amazing get away. Gorgeous setting. Perfect for family reunions or weddings or just a night away. It’s older but not run down. It’s clean staff are friendly and the old timber lodge is like something out of a movie. Can’t wait to go back.

This was our first time on Vancouver Island in the Campbell River area, we were impressed by the grounds how well maintained and the beautiful landscape, the views of the water as well as all the water traffic! The only inconvenience was that there was no a/c. It was pretty hot for sleeping given that there were no screens in the windows and we couldn’t have them open at night time. Otherwise, we had a great experience and we would recommend to our friends and family!

A fairly outdated resort, but still a nice place to stay. Vaulted ceilings, clean room and nice balcony. The balcony is wood and showing its age and had a fair bit of ants on it. Minor details though. Bed was comfortable shower pressure was decent. Parking was easy. This isn’t close to downtown at all so limited dining options.

This a gorgeous location. Our almost two week stay with ocean view was happy and carefree. We saw a whale watching tour launch from the painters lodge dock. The marine building near the dock was open every day with information on tours and adventures. The heated swimming pool was refreshing. The spa is being upgraded so there will be an outdoor hotub. Our family utilized the onsite gym. We met the new owners , and managers who were all so welcoming towards us. We had many meals on the deck overlooking the ocean , the dining room has spectacular views as does the main living room which has a lovely massive stone fireplace..one evening there was live music in the bar which we all enjoyed immensly with our evening bevSo looking forward to returning next summer.

We had a relaxing family stay. Looking forward to returning once they finish renovations. Very relaxing area and really enjoyed an early summer morning walk around the property.

In my view it’s an expensive 3* accomodation, tired and in need of a deep clean and some work on reducing the sound transfer from one floor to another. That said, the staff couldn’t be more helpful and it was the staff that made up for the environment. You cant take away the location and views, which are excellent.
