The room was a good size, the bed (mattress, bedding) and pillow were excellent - I dare say even better than at home! Generally clean, but we found some chocolate wrappers under our bed. Some of the linen is showing obvious wear and tear, and so are some of the curtains. But generally very comfortable room. Good selection for breakfast (including premium options) but standard 'hot' items were no more than lukewarm - would highly recommend a better way of keeping pre-cooked items hot. Leisure facilities fine, but unfortunately the hot tub was not at the right temperature during our two night stay. Leisure facility staff told us the hot tub had not been functioning properly for a number of days and that they too were frustrated with it (and in the process mentioned that other parts of the hotel had been upgraded while some of the leisure facilities were in need of it too). On our second day I asked reception staff if they could check with the leisure staff if hot tub was functioning properly again, and lady at the desk said she would call our room with an update. After waiting for an hour for her call she had not yet (don't make any promises you can't keep), so I went up to reception again and spoke to a manager. The very friendly manager appeared not to know about the ongoing issues with the hot tub (bad internal communication) and offered us some compensation for the inconvenience (discount on our dinner at the hotel restaurant). Generally very pleasant stay.

All in all this has been a good experience. Primarily we wanted to take the Grandchildren away for a night to somewhere with a pool and this didn’t disappoint. We also stayed in the hotel for dinner and the 4 year olds dinner was free and the meal was very nice. Portions were generous and in particular the kids meals were even a bit much for them even though they are very good eaters. At the time of writing the kids are fancying another session in the pool then a late breakfast. Yes a very enjoyable stay at the Westerwood.

The whole proccess of checking in was so easy and the staff were all absolutely lovely and helpful. The room was clean and bigger than expected. Dinner was delicious and again the staff were so polite and helpful. The whole experience was great.

Spa facilities poor and dated. 3 course lunch deal was ridiculous. Should be re branded as soup and a sandwich. A poor wrap or posh toast and cheese. Even had to pay a supplement for a very small portion or fries. Totally unacceptable. Won't be back!

Checked out today and I’m very disappointed with everything. The place. The receptionists. They put us literally beside the Scotland U17 kids AND their equipment room. The corridor smelled like garbage and there was non stop noise by those kids. That should not be the floor you put regular guests on. I booked a room for 4 that said king and a queen. We were given one queen bed and a sofa bed. That’s not what was advertised. Reception wasn’t welcoming, quite cold actually and we had to wait for 10 minutes just to pay the deposit because “the system was down”. Room itself was old and tired. Only soap and towels, no proper amenities. Found hair in different spots which is just not okay. Overall, not what I paid for. If you have a whole youth team on one floor, don’t put families right next to them and don’t change the bed setup from what was booked.
