Bailey's Harbor Cabin Secluded in Woods,Walking distance to Kangaroo Lake-DUPLEX

This property is walking distance to Kangaroo Lake. Featured on Travel Wisconsin! NEW AC installed in April of 2019! I have two kayaks for rental as well. This is an A frame cabin with a loft area that has 3 beds. There is an additional bed downstairs. The backyard has patio and is completely secluded by trees that surround it. It is a short drive (roughly 10 minutes) to the shops, restaurants, ice cream/candy stores, and the Lake Michigan Harbor. There is so much around to do, kayak, snowmobile, ice fish, regular fishing, hiking, biking and so much more! It is available all year round with a cozy wood burner. The snowmobile trails run right through with plenty of parking on the lot. Across the street is a great restaurant/bar that hosts events and has delicious, reasonably priced food. This place is great for families, friends, or a couples getaway.

Early check in is ONLY available if the cleaner gets it cleaned early. I will notify you if early check in is available the day of. I cannot guarantee early check in otherwise. Normally she does have it ready early but I can’t make promises. :)

Could Have Been Cute
This cottage is not as pictured. Inside it was musty and smelled of cigarettes. No screens on the patio doors so couldn't leave them open. The electrical was faulty. When we turned on the lights they continued to go off and on. We couldn't get a full charge on our phones even when plugged in overnight. The owner said she was aware of the problem and was working on it...A little scary that it could be rented out with electrical problems. The whole cottage needed a good scrubbing from ceiling fans, which were too dirty to turn on, to the carpet. The wrought iron deck furniture was coated in green moss, so unusable. The cleaning service hadn't even emptied and washed the coffee pot. We also had to rewash a lot of the dishes and silverware before using them. To be fair though, after talking to the owner about this, she is refunding a $65 cleaning fee and an additional $35 for the inconvenience. The spiral stairs going up to the second floor sleeping area were very narrow without lighting. It got a little dicey going to the bathroom at night. We had to put on our own sheets and blankets because we were told the cleaning service didn't do that. Maybe not a bad thing in the long run because we found one of the mattress pad covers had a big yellow stain on it...!! The four of us have all stayed in cottages multiple times before and know that they are rustic and woodsy, but when you pay to stay you have the right to expect cleanliness and working electricity. We won't be going back.

Excellent Location for Door County Adventures and Relaxation
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Baileys Harbor Cabin. As they say in real estate, "Location, location, location." The Cabin is in the heart of the county, affording easy and efficient access to anything you want to do. The spot is amazingly quiet for being just off E and across from Coyote Roadhouse (a HUGE plus, by the way). We didnt realize before staying that the Cabin was essentially a duplex. That said, we had 3 different "neighbors" during our week-long stay and honestly never heard them once. The separate decks and fire pit areas are totally secluded--a very nice touch. The host was excellent and responsive. A few things to note. These are not necessarily negatives, just things to consider" 1. You will need to bring bottled drinking water. Lots of well water in Door County, but this water is noticeably "welly." Most folks will be put off by smell and taste. Bring bottled water. 2. Cabin is wood framed inside and has a wood burning stove. It smells like a cabin, woody. That's to be expected. 3. While the Cabin can sleep 8+, the king bed is on the main floor, bottom of a sprial staircase. Anyone staying upstairs has to walk dirctly past/over that king bed to use the bathroom. Might be awkward for non-families. 4. The spiral staircase is narrow and steep. Very narrow and steep. Hauling luggage upstairs is a challenge. Anyone with mobilty issues or small children: forget about going upstairs. Again, not a problem if you are aware in advance. Overall awesome!

Very Rustic Cottage
Alyssa sent me all check-in details in a timely manner and was very responsive when I contacted her with a question. Quiet, quaint location. Very nice that my whole family could stay together in this cottage. Plenty of parking to accommodate all of us. Deck area with comfortable deck chairs. Plenty of towels for everyone. Beds comfortable, however we had to put the sheets on our own beds. Expected things to be stocked better - no kleenex, aluminum foil or zip lock baggies. Many lights did not work. We found light bulbs, however some still didn't work (especially outside the front door). The cleanliness in question - main areas overall clean, but cobwebs in ceiling area. And there was a plastic bag with dog poop in it next to the front stoop. Overall, we thought this rental was quite over-priced for what is provided. We realize things in Door Co. are higher priced, but compared to other locations we have stayed at in Door Co., this was much higher. Overall, although we were happy to find something for being in town for a family wedding, we were a little dissappointed.

A Frame in Door County
Overall this property is a good place to stay. Great location, feels very secluded even though it’s super close to Baileys Harbor. It’s a quick walk to Kangaroo Lake! Property manger was very communicative and sent wonderful info before we arrived. Overall the inside of the cabin is great! Kitchen is a good size for the space, beds were comfy, nice couch, chairs, and table. The decorations are a bit sparse. The biggest issue with the inside was that it was only surface level clean, as in it appears clean on first glance but upon closer look it’s not that clean. For example there were cobwebs on all the light fixtures. We dropped a piece of jewelry on the floor and while we were looking for it found that underneath the furniture was filthy with dust, dog food and cereal, and clearly had not been cleaned underneath in quite some time. The fridge was also not very clean and had crumbs. Additionally the outside of the property needs quite a bit of work. The address number is overgrown and can’t be seen from the road which is a hazard in case emergency vehicles need to locate it. The trees, bushes, and plants have overgrown the path significantly narrowing it. There is also a large rock that’s part of the path that sticks up significantly and is a tripping hazard. I was also disappointed to find that the flower boxes had only weeds/ clearly had not been planted this year. The fire pit was nice, and the fact that wood and fire starters where provided was good as well. Even though there were a few issues, we had a great stay and would recommend the property, especially if these issues were addressed.

Very nice Cabin
Cabin was super clean, beds are comfortable. Loved the string lights outside and inside, inside cabin is just like the pictures but outside there is less green grass and no flowers. Deck outside is weathered but in excellent shape. It looks like a camp site. Please don’t miss out cause of less grass and flowers, it is still a very nice cabin, very quiet place. Coyote roadhouse is across from cabin, didn’t go there but it smelled really good and the lot was packed in the evening so it must be good. Cabin was 15 to 20 mins from a lot of good things , like we went to fish boil in fish creek and took in show Peninsula players, show called ripcord, (book aleast a few months ahead cause the seats go quick) would for sure rent this Cabin again. Hope this helps your decision

Awesome!
We stayed here in April, so a lot of Door County was closed for the season. That didn't stop us! Coyote Roadhouse is right across the street, and Kangaroo Lake is too and is gorgeous. Bailey's Harbor has some great spots for fish fry and old fashioneds (Bailey's Harbor Cornerstone Pub) as well as coffee and breakfast (Heirloom Cafe). It is also a 15 minute drive to anywhere else you want to go in Door County. Highly recommend Island Orchard Cider Brewery in Ellison Bay, and Wild Tomato (pizza) and Skip Stone (coffee) in Sister Bay. The VRBO is also only a mile away from Stone's Throw Winery, which is worth a stop! We brought our pup, and he loved the fireplace and yard. Highly recommend!
