Just a 35 minute ferry ride from Auckland City, New Zealand's Waiheke Island is a magical place. The ferry-ride alone is a scenic delight, passing some of the Hauraki Gulf's most beautiful islands, Rangitoto (259mtr high inactive volcano), Motutapu, Great Barrier and Motuihe and dolphins and whales frequently visit the Hauraki Gulf.

Waiheke Island is one of worlds most beautiful small islands, voted 4th best Island in the world and 5th in the world's top 10 regions for 2016.

Bus stop at the bottom of the driveway and pick up and drop off is also available for Waiheke Island's famous wine tour or enjoy the local boutique shops, arts & crafts, exhibitions, gallery's, restaurants & café's on the Island

This villa is privately owned but located within the security and manicured grounds of the Waiheke Island Resort at 4 Bay Road in Palm Beach. Although within the grounds, being privately owned and not run as part of the resort managed facility you are not officially entitled to use the swimming pool, spa pool or mini golf, but AS LONG AS YOU CHECK WITH RECEPTION FIRST AND THERE ARE NO PRIVATE FUNCTIONS BEING HELD, YOU CAN BUY A "POOL PASS" FOR $10 PER PERSON PER DAY, ENTITLING YOU TO USE THE POOL DECK, WITH SWIMMING POOL AND SPA POOL, AND YOU CAN OF COURSE BUY FOOD AND BEVERAGE TO ENJOY FROM THE BAR AND RESTAURANT, OPEN FROM EARLY MOST DAYS :) THERE IS ALSO MINI GOLF, AGAIN AS LONG AS IT IS NOT BOOKED WITH A PRIVATE FUNCTION, YOU CAN ENQUIRE TO PLAY FOR $10 PER PERSON.

The location was far and up the hill. It was very difficult to carry the luggage. The place needs work and upgrades. I had to call to have the hot tub clean, it was very dirty. Some things need to be changed. The view was beautiful and the food in the Waiheke resort was excellent.

The location and view are gorgeous, but the unit needs work. Outdoor furniture is old/peeling/very weathered, the bedroom is extremely small with no room for luggage, furniture and bed is old and needs some updating, unit needs a good coat of paint and cleaning of cobwebs. Windows were very dirty.

We got to book this in our last minute and we totally loved this place. Self- contained, beautiful sea view, jacuzzi bbq, anamazing manager who gave us such detailed explanations,who was easy to contact and quick to reply, came to relax after a hectic time of work, this place was perfect!

Heavenly retreat

I booked this property as a short stay to recover from a long-haul flight from the US, and it was absolutely perfect! This cozy cottage is nestled on the hillside with amazing views of the beach below and the islands in the distance. Relaxing in a private hot tub with these views quickly made the long flight a distant memory. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing most meals, morning coffee, etc. The large bed is comfortable enough for a nice sleep-in. There isn’t a lot of floor space in the bedroom though so you may have to store your bag in the living area if you are two people trying to navigate around the bed. The bathroom doesn’t have a lot of counter space either if you travel with lots of supplies. It’s all perfectly functional with a nice shower and some basic toiletries provided. The property is located in a resort but this unit is not managed by the resort. So, just keep this in mind as facilities at the resort may not be available to you or may require a fee. The grounds are lovely and quite picturesque. If you have problems walking up hills, consider that you do need to walk up a short path from the car park that is a bit steep to get to the property. This isn’t much of an issue for most people, but you may struggle if you have a large bag in tow and/or have severe mobility issues. You may be able to get assistance from someone at the resort, if needed. There are a few places in walking distance and a bus stop outside the resort if you need to go further.
