I stayed here on from 10/20/25-10/24/25, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. During my stay, I discovered a bed bug in the room that was big enough to see that it was a bed bug. I reported it to the staff and even provided photo evidence. While the hotel claimed they found no issue after their “investigation,” they offered only a small discount on a future stay instead of addressing my concern properly or issuing a refund. This response felt dismissive given the seriousness of the situation and the inconvenience it caused. Their attitude was dismissive and provides no evidence of investigation. I’m sharing this so others are aware and so management hopefully takes guest reports more seriously in the future. I would’ve appreciated accountability and a fair resolution rather than a denial.

Great spot to stay

The staff were very friendly and helpful, room was spacious and clean with a nice bathroom. The buffet breakfast was very good with enough choice. Great location near to the train station for easy access to Amsterdam. The local town was very nice. Also a short ride to Zaanse Shans.

The rooms were very clean and modern. Air conditioning works perfectly, we preferred to keep it off however as we don’t like to with a breeze. The staff were really friendly and the housekeeping was a very nice touch. €100 deposit required on check-in by card (doesn’t matter if it’s credit or debit) and was returned to us 5 hours after check out - I used revolut for reference. Right next to to train station and AH supermarket and the local area is beautiful and worth a visit. Would definitely consider staying here while visiting Amsterdam - trains are frequent and only takes 15 minutes into centraal, with the last return being at 1am. Would recommend and would visit again

Great service and good but room not so nice

The hotel staff are great but the room I was given (a double deluxe) did not live up to my expectations. I was in a room on the 5th floor in the annex building, so one of the furthest rooms from reception. While it was modern, there was only one velux window pointing up to the sky (so zero view apart from the overcast skies) and the room felt like one big closet. There is a gap at the bottom of the door which means the room gets flooded with the light from the corridor at night. Hangers in the wardrobe are those awful anti-theft ones. And the rainfall shower pressure was very poor, although the handheld shower was nice. There is no water provided for guests in the room and there is just one tiny miniature bottle of body wash and hair conditioner in the bathroom. Luckily, there is an Albert Heijn supermarket opposite the hotel where you can buy toiletries. I did appreciate the location of the hotel (great bus and train connections) and I did like the restaurant (a great kipschnitzel!). Breakfast was slightly spoiled by the hard boiled eggs which just fell apart when I tried to shell them, and with only two coffee machines, there can be a big queue for your daily fix of caffeine in the morning.

The Zaan Hotel is very close to the train station, stores and restaurants. It's clean and quiet. Above all, every member of the staff we dealt with was pleasant and efficient.When I planned our trip, I thought this hotel would be a perfect fit. It turned out to be exactly that.

The hotel inside is modern and new. Room size is spacious. Breakfast was quite good. We did not care for the area. There were weeds and garbage all around the parking lot. And the outside property needs some TLC.

Pleasant stay and a good base to explore from.

Stay overall was good, staff were friendly and attentive, have to knock a star off though when my initial room was already occupied! Aside from that, just minor issues, not restocking coffee stirrers, not restocking towels on one day. On the positive side, the hotel is really nice, the rooms were comfy and roomy with air filtration systems. Bathroom was well equipped and sensibly designed. I just feel like it might be due for a slight modernisation, the TV doesn't have either an HDMI input or casting ability, so only free to air (and weirdly defaults to a Cuban TV station). The card reader in the room wasnt secure to the wall, and so on. Location wise, there is a supermarket literally 60 seconds away, the train station is a three minute walk and fully staffed! Useful for travel cards. The Zaandam shopping centre is right next to the train station, a five minute ride in one direction gets you to the Zaan Schans area, and ten minutes the other way gets you to central Amsterdam. If you are flying in, the train goes from the airport to Zaandam bypassing the city centre! So, well placed, good quality hotel.

The best part about this hotel is the shower water pressure and it’s proximity to the train station . This hotel has loads of potential but the cleaning was very bad - mould inside the shower area, only one small bottle of shampoo and soap for two guests, no kettle in room, etc …the surrounding hotel was also littered with cigarettes butt leaving a bad impression to the tourists.

Wonderful hotel. Very friendly knowledgeable staff. Right beside train station, walking distance to Zaandam town and short train ride to downtown Amsterdam, airport or anywhere else. If you want a getaway in Amsterdam this is the place to stay. If you arrive by plane go to the lower floor for train station, takes you right to the hotel. So convenient!
