The Good: It's located in a great spot, close to everything. We were able to walk to Jack Trice in less than 20 mins. There are also good restaurants nearby. The Bad: The beds are incredibly uncomfortable and the on site restaurant and bar are average at best. I wish they would rehab the aforementioned because it could be cool.

We were in town for a college tour and stayed at this hotel for proximity to campus. Staff was so friendly! We at breakfast at the hotel restaurant - delicious! We also ordered dinner to go and it did not disappoint.

My son goes to Iowa State so we have stayed in many hotels in Ames, some not so good. The Gateway Hotel was great. Nice room that seemed updated. Bathroom was super clean and modern. This may be the goto hotel now
