"Great location in city centre & quiet"
We stayed in a family room which was great on the first floor & surprisingly quiet despite looking out onto a street. Lovely beds & linen to sleep in & cosy heating for a chilly evening. One negative was the bathroom very 'tired' looking, & the towel rail was too close to the bathroom door so as I turned to go out I banged straight into it & hurt my shoulder. The hotel also advertises 'free wifi' however, as the reception person explained, upstairs rooms often cannot connect due to the thickness of the walls & age of the building. No, it's not a huge problem but when you have teenagers (or anyone) who love to surf the net or relax using internet this can be a frustration when you expect it will be available. The buildings' 'old world' charm is gorgeous, especially as you enter the main foyer & the sitting room down stairs was cosy....shame the open fire wasn't burning when we were there. We'd stay here again....it's great access to cafes, restaurants etc in the city centre....perfect for leaving the car & going exploring on foot!

"Good accommodation, close to town centre."
Comfortable, good bed. The studio room has the shower over the spa bath which we found slippery and not easy to get into or out of when showering, as we are an "older" couple. Otherwise no problems. Close to town centre, and quiet at night.

    Pocket Guide: Ballarat

Looking for heritage accommodation with a modern twist?

Stay in our Ballarat accommodation and enjoy the blend of traditional grandeur and contemporary convenience that defines Ballarat. Accommodation in Ballarat is as colourful as the towns past, stay in a boutique hotel, a miner’s cottages or a traditional pub, where the 1850s appearance conceals the fully renovated interior designed to appease the most modern of tastes. We also have a range of holiday parks and campsites that are the perfect place for families.

From spectacular Victorian architecture to wide tree lined streets, Ballarat is a living legacy to Victoria’s gold rush past and Victorian heritage. To really capture the essence of Ballarat it is recommended that you wander down one the Australia’s finest Victorian streetscapes, Lydiard Street. From there you have the choice of a myriad of heritage buildings including Her Majesty's Theatre which was constructed in 1875 and Craig's Royal Hotel, otherwise know as 'the pride of Ballarat' by none other than Mark Twain.

From our Ballarat accommodation, visitors have the opportunity to delve into Australia’s past and investigate the events surrounding Australia's only civil uprising, the Eureka Rebellion. For those with a passion for Australian history, the Museum of Australian Democracy is a must. Built on the site of the Eureka Rebellion, M.A.D.E provides visitors with a chance to interpret and reflect on the events of 1854. Featuring interactive exhibits, education spaces, a display gallery for the Eureka Flag, theatre, café and gift shop, this museum is a great way to spend a couple of hours. The Eureka story can be explored further by visiting the Mining Exchange, which was built on the site Government troops were gathered before storming the Eureka Stockade.

For a bit of culture stop by the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, regional Australia's oldest and largest public art collection. The gallery is also the home of one of Australia’s most important historical relics, the Eureka Flag, which represents an integral part of the Eureka story.

A trip to Ballarat is not complete without visiting the award winning Sovereign Hill, one of Victoria’s most popular tourist attractions. Sovereign Hill is a recreation of Ballarat during the 1850s and offers visitors an unparallel look at life during the gold rush period. Packed with traditional activities, light shows, mine tours and 200 period-dressed volunteers, Sovereign Hill is as real as it gets.

So don’t revolt, let our Ballarat accommodation make your stay in Ballarat….timeless.
