    Wotif has come a long way since its launch in the early dotcom days in the year 2000. The business started out in a humble garage office in Brisbane with an idea that would transform the travel industry in Australia: people love a great travel deal, simple as that.

    Today, Wotif is internationally recognised as a leader in online travel, and has one of the most recognised online travel brands in Australia and New Zealand.

    Vizeum appointed for the Wotif and lastminute.com.au brands

    Vizeum (Sydney) has been appointed to support the Wotif® and lastminute.com.au® brands in Australia and New Zealand, as a result of a competitive pitch.

    Vizeum’s remit includes working in collaboration with the Wotif Group’s brand marketing team to deliver media strategy, planning and online and offline media buying for the popular travel booking sites.

    In being appointed, Vizeum was praised by Wotif Group for their strategic approach, results-focus and experience working with challenger companies. Vizeum’s innovative, digital-first approach and hands-on client service approach were also acknowledged as crucial to the decision.


    BELLEVUE AND BRISBANE, November 14, 2014 – Expedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXPE) and Wotif.com Holdings Limited (Wotif Group) today announced completion of the acquisition of Wotif Group by Expedia, Inc. for total cash consideration of A$703 million or A$3.30 per share (equivalent to US$612 million or US$2.87 per share based on November 13, 2014 exchange rates). The total consideration of A$703 million was comprised of a A$51 million special dividend distributed by the Wotif Group to its shareholders before closing and A$652 million in cash from Expedia, Inc.

    Wotif.com unveils responsive home page

    Australia’s favourite online travel destination, Wotif.com, has unveiled an exciting new mobile responsive home page to its entire site traffic. 

    The new homepage, which has been in beta testing since late July, forms part of a wider responsive design project which aims to optimise the Wotif.com experience across PC, tablet and mobile. 

    Once complete, the responsive design project will evolve the way travellers search and book their travel on Wotif.com by offering a seamless experience across all devices. 

    The site enhancements which are now live include:

    Wotif releases revolutionary Sydney theatre packages

    BELLEVUE AND BRISBANE, July 7, 2014 The Expedia group (NASDAQ: EXPE) today announced that it entered into an agreement to acquire Wotif.com Holdings Limited (Wotif Group) (ASX: WTF), an Australian-based online travel company, for total cash consideration of A$703 million or A$3.30 per share - a premium of approximately 30% to Wotif Group’s volume weighted average share price for the five trading days leading up to and including July 4, 2014 (equivalent to US$658 million or US$3.09 per share based on July 4, 2014 exchange rates).

    Wotif.com reveals Australia's top rated hotels, based on more than 1 million traveller reviews

    Wotif.com is celebrating the milestone of publishing more than 1 million real reviews for Australian hotels by releasing the favourite places to stay in Australia’s top destinations - with Wotif.com reviewers rating The Langham in Melbourne, the best hotel. 

    Product Director, Donna Rodios said The Langham had taken the top spot with an overall review score from Wotif.com reviewers of 4.74 (out of 5). 

    “We’re celebrating cracking 1 million Australian hotel reviews and the fact that Wotif.com is number one for Australian hotel reviews by releasing the top rated hotel in each of our most popular destinations,” Ms Rodios said. 

    Wotif.com announces first partnership with Hong Kong Tourism Board

    Leading travel website Wotif.com has enhanced its great value travel packages by launching Bali as its latest holiday destination.

    Wotif.com's packages, which launched late last year, allow travellers the flexibility to search and book package holidays by combining the best flight and hand-picked hotel deals to a selection of the top domestic and short-haul destinations. 

    Wotif Group Executive General Manager for Flights and Packages, Helen Demetriou, said the addition of Bali holidays was a natural progression, as Aussies continued their travel tradition of holidaying in the Indonesian hot spot. 

    “There’s no doubt that Aussies love holidaying in Bali,” she said.

    Wotif.com Holdings Limited (Wotif Group) announces that the Scheme of Arrangement under which Expedia Australia Investments Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Expedia, Inc. (Expedia) will acquire all of the issued share capital in Wotif Group (Scheme) has today been implemented.

    All Wotif Group shares have been acquired by Expedia. Wotif Group will apply to ASX for the removal of Wotif Group from the Official List of ASX with effect from the close of trading Monday, 17 November 2014. Scheme Consideration Cash Consideration of A$651,959,640.36 in total has been paid today by electronic funds transfer or cheque (in Australian dollars) to all Scheme Shareholders.

    Wotif we were number one for Australian hotel reviews?

    Leading travel website Wotif.com has revealed it has more authentic traveller reviews for Australian hotels than any other site. 

    Since launching reviews in 2011, Wotif.com has seen a surge in the number of its customers submitting a review of their stay and has now published more than 820,000 reviews for hotels in Australia. 

    Wotif.com, which receives more than 50 reviews every hour, now has the most reviews for Australian hotels and has also notched up over one million accommodation reviews globally. 

    Wotif.com Market Intelligence Manager, Chris Tempelman, said the reviews were from real customers who had booked through Wotif.com and had completed their stay, bringing an authenticity to its reviews.

    Roaring tiger cub competition

    Leading travel website Wotif.com is calling on its Facebook followers to help name one of Australia Zoo’s cute Sumatran tiger cubs to help celebrate Steve Irwin Day.

    The competition, which is open until next Tuesday 12 November, will see one lucky winner gain the ultimate bragging rights of naming one of the two tiger cub brothers born in August – the first tiger cubs to be born in Australia Zoo’s 43 year history. 

    Wotif.com Product Director, Donna Rodios, said animal lovers could put forward their favourite names via Wotif.com’s Facebook page and the Irwin family would choose the top three. 

    Wotif.com helps put the fun into family holidays

    The ‘accommodation capital’ of Australia, Wotif.com, has been named the official Online Travel Agency (OTA) partner for a coveted multi-million dollar theme park campaign.

    Wotif.com has partnered with the Theme Park Capital of Australia campaign, which was launched by the Queensland Government, Village Roadshow and Ardent Leisure earlier this month. 

    The campaign aims to raise awareness of the Gold Coast’s world-class theme parks across Australia and New Zealand and position them as a must-do holiday experience. 

    Wotif.com Product Director, Donna Rodios, said she was delighted the leading travel website had been named as the official OTA partner for the campaign. 

    Tassie tourism boost

    BRISBANE – 23 October 2013

    Spring accommodation bookings across Southern Tasmania have seen a boost thanks to a recent campaign between Wotif.com and Destination Southern Tasmania.

    Wotif.com Product Director Donna Rodios, said the recent two-week Every season more scenic than the last campaign had resulted in a 15.4 per cent room night growth for participating suppliers, compared to the same period last year.

    “It’s great to see participating suppliers reaping the benefits of the campaign and recording a solid lift,” Ms Rodios said. 

    “The region as a whole also recorded a 7.7 per cent increase in room nights through Wotif.com bookings, as a result of the campaign. 

    Pack for the unexpected in Canberra

    Canberra has seen its fair share of media attention in recent days and there are many more unexpected surprises highlighting why the nation’s capital is the perfect place to take a short break this winter.

    Wotif.com and Australian Capital Tourism have today launched the two-week ‘Pack for the unexpected’ campaign to encourage holidaymakers to discover everything the vibrant city has to offer. 

    Wotif.com Product Director, Donna Rodios, said holidaymakers would be surprised at wot Canberra had in store for a winter getaway.

    “Whether you’re a keen foodie, a culture vulture, a history buff of more of an outdoorsy type – Canberra has wot you’re looking for,” Ms Rodios said.

    Wotif.com Product Director, Donna Rodios, said June was the perfect time for a getaway before the school holidays rush.
