Top picks: Adelaide hotels for any budget

Not sure where to start on where to stay in the South Australian capital? We asked our Adelaide Hotel Expert Allyvia to share her top picks work or play, super luxe or simple stay, these gems have got you covered.

Splash-out – $$$

Mayfair Hotel
The Mayfair Hotel is 5-star luxe in the heart of the CBD (and who could say no to that). Sip a cocktail (or three) at the Hennessy Rooftop Bar, or do high tea at the Mayflower Restaurant. If a night in is more your thing, check out the epic in-room dining menu – which includes gelato, crème brulee, and a South Australian cheese platter – and relax with your complimentary L’Occitane toiletries.

Peppers Waymouth Hotel
Peppers Waymouth Hotel is the perfect luxury stay for foodies, with the iconic Adelaide Central Markets just a 5-minute stroll away. Use the free wi-fi to brag about your delicious market finds (not that you’d do that), then unwind with a dip in the stunning indoor pool or pamper yourself at the on-site spa and sauna.

The Playford Adelaide MGallery by Sofitel
Awesomely located on North Terrace, the Playford Adelaide is perfect for a splash-out stay after a game at Adelaide Oval or a show at Adelaide Festival Centre. The loft suites are just gorgeous (seriously, look at the pictures), and the function spaces are perfect for weddings and events. Make sure you get some pics on the spiral staircase!

Affordable gem – $$

Hotel Grand Chancellor on Hindley
The Hotel Grand Chancellor offers incredible value in an unbeatable location. It’s an awesome pick if you’re in town for a few days for a game at Adelaide Oval. Spacious rooms – tick! Pool – tick! On-site bar stocked with Adelaide’s best brews – tick, tick, tick!

Stamford Plaza Adelaide
The Stamford Plaza Adelaide is home to the city’s only rooftop pool, making it perfect for a long weekend (or cheeky staycation) in the CBD. Take a dip to soothe your muscles after a long day of shopping in Rundle Mall, then head downstairs to La Boca Bar and Grill for an Argentinean feast. Yum!

Mantra on Hindmarsh
After a busy day of sightseeing, Mantra’s modern and spacious rooms are the perfect place to relax and put your feet up. Mantra Hindmarsh Square is an ideal homebase for exploring (read: eating your way through) the Rundle Street and East Terrace dining precinct. With an on-site restaurant and comfy 2-bedroom apartments, it’s a top pick for family trips and longer stays.

Bargain pick – $

Ibis Adelaide
One of the CBD’s newest hotels, Ibis Adelaide ticks all the boxes for a bargain pick. The rooms are stylish and comfy, and there’s a great buffet breakfast spread (for a surcharge). The location is also top-notch – right next to the Rundle Mall shopping strip, with a Haigh’s chocolate shop just outside (a must for any Adelaide visit).

Adelaide Meridien Hotel & Apartments
Hello from the other side (of the River Torrens that is). Located on Melbourne Street, Adelaide Meridien is a hidden beauty that’s perfect for exploring North Adelaide. With generous-sized units (that include separate bedroom and living rooms as standard), free on-site parking, and a great restaurant all strolling distance from Adelaide Zoo, it’s another fantastic pick for families and longer stays.

Adelaide Paringa Motel
Want a modern room in the heart of the city with great service and a bargain price tag? The Adelaide Paringa Motel is for you. Just 200m from iconic Peel Street, it’s the perfect stay for taking advantage of Radelaide’s burgeoning (dare we say intoxicating?) pop-up bar scene. There’s also room service, for the morning after your cocktail quest 😉
