The Treseder Family Guide to Canberra


The Treseder family – Mum Lucy, Dad Paul, son Ted and daughter Lola – recently visited Canberra for a weekend escape. We asked them to share their favourite things about their family getaway.

What are the best things to do on a sunny day in Canberra?
Lucy and Paul – We loved our bike ride around Lake Burley Griffin.

Ted and Lola – We liked the bike ride too and the Segway!

What are the best things to do a rainy day in Canberra?
Paul – The museum

Lucy – The art gallery for me. Cockington Green was also surprisingly fun in the rain.

Ted – Definitely Questacon

Lola – Yeah, Questacon for me too.

What did you like most about where you stayed, Avenue Hotel Canberra?
Lucy – It was super spacious and everything was very fresh and new.

Paul – The buffet breakfast.

Ted – It was luxurious.

Lola – The comfy bed, amazing breakfast and room service.

Where were your favourite places to eat?
Lucy – Močan & Green Grout in New Acton! Stunning array of tasting plates cooked in open kitchen. My favourite there was the king fish tartare.

Paul – The pork belly there was my top pick.

Lola – Definitely the room service fish and chips.

Ted – Me too.

What was the best part of the holiday?
Lucy – Doing new things and going to new places together.

Paul – Simply spending time together.

Lola – The Segway ride.

Ted – Spending time together.

Why would you recommend Canberra to other families?
Lucy– It’s easy to get around and there’s no traffic!

Paul – There’s lots of family friendly things to do.

Ted – It’s fun with lots to do.

Lola – You’ll never get bored there.

What would you rate your holiday out of 10?
Lucy and Paul – 9/10
