Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof: Luxury hotel with free WiFi and 3 restaurants. Located in the entertainment district.
Great location for sightseeing in Frankfurt. Close to many restaurants, bars and cafes, and heaps of shopping. Hotel is appointed beautifully and spotlessly clean.
Our room was quiet and should have meant a great night’s sleep - except for the terrible bedding. The mattress was way too squishy and, combined with equally squishy pillows, we were bent and twisted all night.
We tried the main bar, which was nice enough but expensive relative to the quality of food/drinks and mediocre service. Similarly the restaurant (Oscars) - disinterested staff and okay food. With other, much better options within a very short walk, we wouldn’t bother returning to either.
Really good hotel, except for the restaurant/bar.

I have stayed in a lot of 5+ star hotels throughout the world. However, this is one of the best hotels which you can find around the world. The service was excellent and the room was so oustanding, it just felt like home. The concergie and the entire team were more than helpful in every situation and we will definitely be coming back here. While there are some selected hotels around the world which match the level of comfort and service of the Excelsior in Cologne, I have to honestly say that this hotel is by far the best hotel I have had the pleasure of staying in Germany. By far better service compared to the Adlon in Berlin, much better quality rooms than the Mandarin Oriental or the Bavarian Hof in Munich.
