Of all the islands in all the Ionian Sea, we want to send you to this one. Why? Because you can explore secret ocean caves, softly lit by the sun’s rays. You can share a secluded beach with the hull of a wrecked ship. Oh, and there’s a place that possibly has the most famous sunsets in all of Europe. Intrigued? We bet you are. Check out our amazing deals on Zakynthos hotels and let your adventure begin.
Things to Do in Zakynthos
The cobalt waters surrounding this wonderful island will no doubt attract your attention. Take a dive at Navagio Beach, commonly referred to as Shipwreck Beach because of the wrecked hull left behind by an incompetent skipper. This place is only accessible by boat tours, so be sure to book one in advance as they fill up quickly. Oh, one more thing. The cliffs high above the beach are world-renowned for BASE-jumping, so keep your eyes peeled for thrill-seekers cutting through the sky.
After a day spent in the water and on the sand of Shipwreck Beach, head over to the southern tip of the island, where the village of Keri is located. Hike your way out to the Fanari overlook area and step up your Instagram game with pictures of the sun setting behind the Ionian Sea. You might even capture a loving couple exchanging vows.
Getting to & Around Zakynthos
Zakynthos holidays begin at Zakynthos International Airport (ZTH), near the town of Kalamaki. There is a bus system that services the island, but taxis are a great alternative. They can take you from the airport straight to your Zakynthos accommodation, no matter what village it may be in. But if you want to go exploring on a whim, the easiest way to do that is by rental car or scooter. Yes, scooters are still popular here! Wear a helmet. Or don’t (Please do).
Greece is loaded with islands, so why not go? Browse through Wotif’s awesome offers for hotels in Zakynthos and book your stay today.
