The hotel is elegant and we were well taken care of. Our Butler, Chris, provided exceptional service at every turn. We enjoyed dining at the hotel and found out meals well prepared and nicely spiced. We will be happy to return to The Strand.

It's easy to stay at a generic box type hotel. The Strand has pedigree (See Raffles and E&O). It's a beautiful building with high ceilings. Beautifully decorated and clean. Very pleasant staff. Quiet and tranquil. Stay here for your first visit to Yangon, and you can always stay at a generic, branded hotel on a subsequent visit.

old lovely renovated hotel, but security was bad. Keys left with a butler on each floor, my butler never there. Key in drawer, anyone could have got key and stolen things from my room. Dinner was not good, chicken in curry dry and hard, desert not heated up enough. Breakfast superb. Not worth the price. Gym not open 24 hours.

　ストランドは、古き良き時代の英国の雰囲気に包まれたクラシックなホテルです。 　ストランドはイギリス植民地時代の1901年に建築され、シンガポールのラッフルズなども手がけたサーキーズ兄弟がホテルとして開業したそうです。当時のイギリスのガイドブックに“スエズ以東で最高の宿”と記されていたというから、アジアでの超名門ホテルと言えるでしょう。一時はアマンリゾーツ、その後GHMホテルズのメンバーとなりましたが、現在は独立系のようです。コロニアルスタイルの美しい建築は、ヤンゴンの文化遺産に当たる“a commemorative blue plaque”に認定され、街のランドマークともなっています。 　日本式で言う1階にレセプション、ロビー、レストラン2軒、バー、ショップ、スパ、屋外にプールがあり、2階と3階が客室となっています。 　建物だけでなくサービス面もクラシックで、玄関では勤続27年というベテランのベルマンに迎えられ、宿泊のチェックインから全て客室のバトラーが面倒を看てくれます。バトラーは1日三交代で24時間常駐し、いつでも対応するということでした。小心者の私に、夜中に呼びつける勇気はありませんでしたが・・。 　客室は一番小さいスーペリアでも面積55㎡と広く、リビングとベッドの間に間仕切りがあるセミスィートでした。天井も高く、5mはありそうです。バスルームも広く、ダブルの洗面台にバスタブとシャワーブースがありました。ただしここではバルコニーつきの客室が特別スイートだけだったのが、私は残念でした。ヤンゴンのホテルでバルコニーつき客室は滅多にないようです。植民地時代のイギリス人は、南国の空気に触れるのが嫌だったのでしょうか？ 　コーヒーショップに当たる「ザ・ストランド･カフェ」では、14:30〜17:00にハイティーが楽しめます。写真は1人前で、イギリス伝統スイーツに加えてアジア風の甘くないスナックも乗っていました。ハイティーだけに訪れる価値があると思います。 　このホテルに宿泊して、私はアガサ･クリスティのミス・マープルシリーズに登場する「バートラムホテル」を思い出しました。もちろんここで犯罪は行われていませんが（笑）。

完璧なバトラー、イングリィシュブラックファースト。部屋の電話一本で紅茶を持って来てもらったり、バスタブにお湯を張ってもらったり何でも頼めます。ヤンゴンの物価が上がる前に是非泊まって見て下さい。余り日本語は通じないので翻訳機を持って来ても良いかもしれません。

A suite at the Strand feels like having your very own luxury home in Yangon. The hotel is a destination in its own right and you want to make sure to make time just to take in the ambience. Don’t miss this historic site beautifully restored with contemporary comfort. The staff are extraordinarily welcoming and helpful and the butler service is like having a guardian angel or Jeeves right outside. You can discuss your plans and goals of your journey and the butler knows how to figure out everything...and mix your drink! The restaurant is wonderful too with a delicious breakfast. For lunch, be sure to sit by the window and try the mutton curry; you will feel a wave of complete contentment settle over you.

道路側は騒音が気になる

ホスピタリティは非常に良いです。朝食の選択肢も多く、味も最高でした。 ホテル全体の雰囲気はとても良く、インテリアは素敵でクラシカルなホテルの雰囲気を満喫できます。 道路側（ヤンゴン川側）の部屋でしたが、クラクションなど騒音は気になりますので、反対側の部屋の方がいいと思います。特に窓からの眺めが良いわけではないので。窓は二重窓でしたが、それでも騒音は気になりました。窓は汚れていたのが気になりました。 プールも綺麗ですが蚊は多いと思います。プールサイドのトイレを利用したら、蚊は5-6匹いて集まってきました。蚊取り機を置いておいて欲しいです。夜中も部屋で数か所蚊にかまれたので、部屋にも蚊取り機があればよかったと思います（何処かに置いてあったのかも知れませんが）。

昨年リニューアルされたようでお部屋やホテル内はとてもきれいで快適でした。ただ、水回りは古いままのようで、シャワールームは狭く劣化が感じられます。 なんといっても歴史があることと、バトラーサービスがあることを楽しみにしていました。バトラーはデスクにいないことが多くて少し戸惑いましたが、会うとフレンドリーに話をして、コーヒーや紅茶のサービスをしてくださいます。宿泊した日は空いていたようで、チェックアウト後に着替えをする部屋がないかと聞いたところ、無料で16時までチェックアウトを伸ばしてくれました。おかげさまでシャワーを浴びてから空港に向かえました。 あとよかったのは朝食ですね。オーダー制でいくつ頼んでもよいのですが、小さなロブスターと卵の料理と、ヨーグルトはとてもおいしかったです。 思ったよりこじんまりとしていて、カジュアルでフレンドリーな対応でとても居心地がよかったです。
