Accommodation In Xuzhou

Situated in China’s Jiangsu Province, Xuzhou sits almost halfway between Beijing and Shanghai. It is a fairly small city, so it’s easy to navigate and you can see the main sights by foot. Wandering around is also a good way to explore the smaller streets and alleys and get a real sense of what the place is all about. There are local buses and taxis too for those times that you just don’t feel like walking. There are a selection of places to eat and drink and we have some good Xuzhou hotels for a pleasant and comfortable stay.

Things to do

One of the city’s main attractions is a miniature replica of the famous Terracotta Warriors from Xi’an. There are three different areas with soldiers in different battle dress and positions. The downtown is home to some interesting neighbourhoods where you can take a peek into the traditional Chinese life, customs and traditions. There are centuries-old wet markets, butchers ‘shops, and small stores. There are large public squares around the city, and if you’re lucky you can watch musicians and singers performing in the streets. You can even visit a traditional medicine man and have your fortune told! Take a stroll along the pretty Yellow River and admire the views.

There are small villages dotted around the city that you can spend a couple of hours or more wandering around and seeing what life is like in rural China. As many of these small villages don’t get many tourists, you may get some odd looks from the curious locals. Dog meat is popular in the city, so make sure that you know what you ordering to avoid any unwanted surprises! Another popular dish is Sha Tang soup, containing chicken, eel, pepper, and beans.

Getting there

If you are thinking about visiting the city, have a look at our Xuzhou accommodation. We also have flights to Xuzhou, and the city is easy to reach from the airport.
