Accommodation In Wuhan
China's Wuhan sits alongside the mighty Yangtze River and is the main city in Hubei Province. Wuhan has a long and colourful history, having been a pivotal city during several powerful dynasties, an important port and a centre for the arts and education. It is a striking city to wander around, filled with a range of architectural styles and brilliant views along the river. Thinking about visiting this fascinating city? Then take a look at our great selection of Wuhan accommodation for a pleasant and comfortable stay.
Things to do
The city is famous for its role in the founding of modern day China, with the Wuchang Uprising having taken place in the city in the early 1900s. Sun Yat-Sen spoke to the masses, encouraging a revolution. You can visit the Memorial Hall where this monumental event took place. Chairman Mao had a retreat in Wuhan, and you can visit the grand building that sits in lovely grounds. The Hubei Provincial Museum is a good place to learn more about the area's long history. Other museums include those dedicated to art.
Temples are scattered throughout the city, with Baotong Temple, Guiyuan Temple, and Changchun Taoist Temple among the favourites. A major tourist attraction is the soaring Yellow Crane Tower, which allows you to enjoy great views. For some relaxation head to the sparkling East Lake where you can enjoy beaches and parks. Moshan Hill offers good hiking and pretty views. Kids and adults alike will enjoy Wuhan Zoo, with its wide array of animals and amusement rides. Step into the glitzy shopping centres to escape the heat, and take a wander through Tanhualin with its assortment of trinkets and knick-knacks. A visit to Jinqing Street in the evening is a must – be entertained by street performers and enjoy delicious street food.
Getting there
If you are around during the fifth lunar month you will be treated to the lively Dragon Boat Festival, a lively affair with lots of music and dancing. With flights to Wuhan from several different domestic airports it is really easy to get to this interesting city. Our terrific Wuhan hotels add to the wonderful experience!
