Our family of 4 stayed at this quaint hotel just outside of downtown Oxford for a night. Rooms were clean and modern and we had dinner and breakfast in the cafe downstairs. The cafe offered excellent food and staff were very professional and friendly. Highly recommended if you want a quite place within walking distance (15 minutes) from the city center.

Small and friendly hotel, close to Folly bridge and easily walkable to the centre and university areas. Room was clean and comfortable but only one USB port on a table lamp which was slow charging. Cafe was very good and breakfast was lovely.

Staff was exceptionally helpful friendly and accommodating, with Busna and Sam ranking among the best we’ve ever encountered in decades of travel! The hotel was also quite close to Oxford City Centre and the University, so everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. We will definitely be recommending Ethos to our friends and returning in our next trip to England!

Ethos hotel was okay. It had what we needed. The room was super dusty with spider webs, and had a musty smell. But I find that to be pretty typical in the older buildings in England. The bed was large and comfortable. The shower head didn’t work properly when we arrived, but they came in and replaced it immediately. The cafe in the lobby was great!! The staff was helpful and courteous. Overall we enjoyed our stay! About 20 minute walk to Oxford train station. Bus stops located nearby. Location was mostly quiet and easy to get to city center.

A great find in Oxford. Well appointed, comfortable rooms with a good breakfast and even free snacks. Friendly staff. I’d definitely stay here in future visits to Oxford. It’s a good walk from the train station but doable, a ten minute walk to city centre.

We arrived before our scheduled check-in and were able to park in front of the hotel. We left the car and set out to explore Oxford on foot. Good location for us. Room was on the small side but the bed was comfortable. Overall, the room was nice. Staff were helpful. Food at the cafe was very good.

Lovely staff. Very accommodating. Room was slightly dated and could use more attention to detail in cleaning but was nice overall. The tv turned on by itself so we had to unplug it. The blankets were very thin so we were a bit chilly at night. Overall it was nice and I’d recommend if you’re looking for something simple and reliable.

Hidden gem near city center

Very nice hotel located walking distance from downtown so in a quiet area. Lovely little cafe on site which served a wonderful breakfast. Room very comfortable and updated. Would stay here again if visiting Oxford.

Great stay

Lady at front desk was extremely helpful…she made us feel extremely welcome and assisted us all the way. The location was perfect, only 10 minute walk to the centre of town. Only issue was we had to wait around 50 mins for breakfast because it was so busy, maybe extra help in the kitchen would of helped

Comfortable Stay but Lacking Winter Warmth

We arrived early to park, and while the staff member seemed unsure at first, they were ultimately very helpful and allowed us to check in early. The room met expectations, but we weren’t shown how to use the air conditioning. Returning at 11 pm, we found the room exceptionally cold and couldn’t get the heating to work. The bed had only a sheet and two blankets, making for an uncomfortable winter night. The shower was warm rather than hot on two occasions, though the sink tap provided hot water. Breakfast was well managed despite peak-time crowds, with the sole staff member handling service impressively. The filter coffee was good, though the milk had small floating bits. The menu breakfast was excellent. At checkout, I mentioned the heating issue and was told we needed to activate the heating function—something I’d recommend staff explain to guests upon arrival. I also suggested offering duvets in winter rather than requiring guests to request them. The hotel assured me they’d look into the shower temperature. Overall, Ethos Hotel is a clean, safe, and budget-friendly option close to the city centre. However, if visiting in winter, I recommend confirming how the heating works and requesting extra bedding upfront.

Fantastic stay

Amazing stay at this comfortable and cosy hotel. Our room was great! Had its own fridge and complimentary drinks. Shower was warm. Beds comfy. Large wardrobe space. Breakfast was delicious and plenty to chose from. Coffee… gooood. could have stayed a week! But our magical mystery tour continues
