Very helpful staff. Really polite. Great location for fun fair and sea front walls. Great breakfast offerings but don't leave it too late, as they don't seem to re fill it after half 9 and drinks and pastries tend to have run out. Just get there earlier. Nice pool for an hour now and then, towels provided.

Family of 4 summer trip

Very comfortable beds/ adjoining rooms. Daily house keeping although not through clean e.g didn’t vacuum. Found dead insect behind the door and remained during our 4 day stay. Good range of breakfast although finished at 10 so if you are not an early riser most of the food was gone by 9.30. Pool, hot tub sauna, steam room and gym were good. Although our teenager was very upset that he was not allowed to join us in the hot tub, sauna, steam room or gym and pool for kids closed at 6. Perfect location, walk to arcades, fair rides (£1 tokens), lovely donuts/churros, ice cream and fish and chips on the promenade and hovercraft to isle of wight for day trip. Short drive to the historic docks. No fridge or slippers in room but nice extras such as snooker table, jenga and activities for kids. Not alot of food and drink variety in hotel and pricey but lots of uber eat options very close by.

The pool was nice and I had a lovely early morning swim. We had some troubles with our room and they upgraded ys but the bathroom could have been cleaner. shower was hot unlike the breakfast which was very disappointing

Everything was just ok. Some places were sub par particularly breakfast with many plates and mugs stained and dirty from poor dishwashing. These could have been removed from Circulation if a simple inspection is done on cricket when it comes out of the dishwasher. Staff were helpful and friendly.

First time staying at a Holiday Inn but can thoroughly recommend this one in Portsmouth. Only staying overnight before getting the ferry but wished we could stay longer. Managed to do some shopping at Gun Wharf & enjoy the surrounding area. All within easy reach to hotel.

The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting Old Portsmouth, Portsmouth and Southsea. The breakfast is ok, better than many places. The rooms however are very small, the bathrooms are tiny - we stayed in a premium room , I am not sure it would be legally possible for the other rooms to be smaller. At breakfast they managed to run out of regular tea bags.. how is that possible? In the bar they had no glasses for short drinks! The staff were never apologetic about the short comings. When we were unable to release the water from the shower/bath tub in the evening, we were told that we would need to wait till the morning to get it fixed, which would have meant that we were unable to use the shower during the heatwave! Again the staff are all reticent to apologise. The coffee machine (nice touch) did not work in either of the rooms we used. There was no toilet brush or shaving mirror. The phone’s in the room have the appearance of working but in fact they do not connect to reception! Why are they still there? Why in such tiny bathrooms do they insist on having baths (I am sure there must be a reason!) In summary a hotel in a great location with reasonable facilities, tiny rooms and inexplicable supply problems and a sense that a lot of the staff (not all of them obviously) just do not care.

Staff were amazing and attentive. Had food from in the bar and breakfast both very good. Requested connecting room and that’s what we got. Rooms on the small side and compact but everything you need except no fridge. Great location.

Nice hotel with helpful staff

The gentleman who checked me in was very polite and helpful. My room was quiet, clean and spacious, and overall I was very pleased with my stay. The only downside was the toiletries, which were vegetable fragrances like 'Parsley Stalk' and 'Broccoli', and weren't really to my taste. It would have been nice to be able to get sweet snacks in the bar like cookes or small cakes to go with tea or coffee.

This place desperately needs money spending on it. Broken lamp stand, toilet roll holder falling out of the wall and generally in poor condition. The staff in the restaurant were clueless and the food was cheap deep fried rubbish. Massively overpriced !!!

No air conditioning

There was a VERY long line to check in and the staff seemed overwhelmed. The staff member that checked us in gave no greeting but was very quick to get our key, she did not mention that the room’s a/c was not functioning and that a fan would be provided. We met another couple in the lift that explained all air conditioning was broken on our floor. It was brutally hot in the room. The fan did not come close to producing a level of comfort . We only had 1 night stay- thankfully. After we checked out and were in the shuttle, we found out that some of the rooms were given a discount for the inconvenience. We were not offered that. I guess we needed to be more aggressive in complaining.

Ideal base to explore Southsea and the historic dockyard. Breakfast was really good, but the coffee and the queue for it was disappointing.
