The hotel's essentially fine. Some of it feels a little dated, but it's pretty comfortable. What makes the rating two star is that I was told on arrival that there was a party in a marquee right outside my window and that the (loud) music would go on until midnight. I chose the hotel because I thought it would be peaceful in the park. Obviously it wasn't, in this instance. I think it's a bit rum to sell hotel rooms to people when there's a loud event on, when they're not part of the event. I arrived early evening and was exhausted after a long day's drive. I just wanted to sleep, so couldn't really go anywhere else. I fell asleep then was woken by the music, and couldn't get to sleep again until after 2am (to be fair, the music really did stop at midnight - it was v quiet after that). As I say, the place is fine - but if you want peace, check there's not an event on next door.

Beautiful location! The house has a great history, and is set well off of the main road in woodland. Staff are super helpful and friendly and check-in was easy. The rooms are lovely and comfortable. Great base for Wakefield and surrounding attractions. Only down side was a Saturday night party in the marquee keeping us awake until midnight. But otherwise, it was lovely. Thank you for a great stay.

Very warm welcome and efficient friendly check in. Bar and breakfast staff all friendly and knew what they were doing ( which isn’t always the case at many hotels) Room was fine and great value all things considered. Would stay again

Very clean and quiet room with a kettle and tea and coffee and really comfy beds. Food at dinner and breakfast was good. Most of the staff were pleasant and helpful but they seemed to be restricted by ‘rules’. Found one key card for three people in a room poor, requested another but they were unable to issue more than one which meant hanging around constantly to be let in. Only filter coffee available in morning for guests who have paid for breakfast. Asked to sit with other family on a breakfast table big enough for 6, we were given a tiny table for 6 when all around were bigger empty tables they were unable to offer us?!? Petty pedantic rules that are irritating and unnecessary. Would not stay again too many other options for the same price range with more sensible ‘rules’ and the ability to have a coffee of choice within the prepaid breakfast.

I really enjoyed staying in Holmfield hotel for 2 nights. There are two parks surrounding the hotel which makes you feel like living among the woods, very quiet and mind peace. The bar was perfect and served with outstanding breakfast and drinks. Everything was perfect.

Nice quite rooms with all you need, ie kettle, plenty of coffee, tea, Sugar and milk. Enough for 2 people for 2 days, having morning and evening drinks. Breakfast was ok, plenty of choice of cereals, pastries etc and the cooked ENGLISH breakfast was very nice especially the Black Pudding. The free internet was ok but at the back of the building in the rooms there it was a be sketchy.

Hotel had an event in an attached marquee on the Saturday which went on until 12.15am....it was very noisy and no sleep was possible, whilst this was mentioned at check in it was too late to make alternative arrangements .The event impacted the evening meal service as the restaurant was extremely busy with lots of children running around. We asked to be moved to a quieter table and was shown to an app only area ...we used the app to order food and when it arrived( well actually dumped onto the table)we asked for knives and forks to be told there're over there you will have to help yourselves as this is an app only area...so basically no service ...we definitely wouldn't stay there again
