Grand Hotel L'Opera was conveniently located near restaurants and just across the street to Capitole Square parking. Nice hotel with bar and aalon area. Short walk to museums, churches and Garonne River walk.

My second stay over the past week wasn't an improvement. Upon checkin a member of staff run off with one of our bags, trying to take it to another room. the reception staff barely reacted - it had cash and passports in it, I'd have expected that to be taken seriously. Our initial room was superb, but we noticed a leak in the ceiling and were moved to a much poorer room. this hotel, and particularly its staffing, needs a lot of work.

Grand Hotel de l’Opera is a nice hotel in a great location. My hotel room was spacious enough and well appointed. The hotel has an old charm. It is centrally located so it is easy to walk to most interesting areas of town. That is important because driving in the area is difficult. However there is a big underground parking next to the hotel and the hotel makes you benefit from a discounted rate.

This hotel is stunning and is perfectly located in Toulouse's plaza. It is beautifully decorated and very clean. The individuals that work the reception desk are extremely helpful and cheerful.

Beautiful well located hotel. Great staff and nice rooms. Our only caution is many rooms are accessed only by stairs and for older folks might be a chore. Parking is accrosd the street but it’s not easy to access and again you have to take your luggage up a flight of stairs to get out of the parkade.

Mixed Feelings

It’s hard for me to rate this hotel because I had two very different impressions. I chose to stay here because I prefer hotels in old, historic buildings with some “old world” charm, and Grand Hotel de l’Opera seemed fit the bill. I had chosen a “Classic” room in the least expensive category, it looked nice in the pictures and I didn’t mind a smaller room since I traveled alone. When I opened the door to room- one the first floor- I was struck by a really bad smell, like damp cellar combined with grandma’s old basement. It looked beautifully decorated but was really dark because of the very small window (looked much brighter in the pictures). I honestly got a feeling of panic at the thought of sleeping in there for two nights. I’m someone who travels often, very easy going and adaptable to most situations, and this was the first time I have ever asked to change rooms. The staff was lovely and very helpful in every way. I was told there were very few other rooms available and finally I ended up in a king suite on the second floor, which was the total opposite of the first room- big, bright and beautiful and no bad smells whatsoever. Wonderful! However, I obviously didn’t need such a large room, and I ended up having to pay much more for the upgrade- way above my budget- but I felt I had no choice. In retrospect, had I known beforehand what to expect I would have chosen a different hotel.
