    dated but good
People have said this hotel is dated and yes it certainly is, there is no doubt of its 1970's credentials, from the flowery tiles in the bathroom too the bright yellow loo seat and matching loo brush. But...... they are just tiles, the price I paid represented good value for money in this location and if you can look past the 1970's veneer then you have a good hotel. So, I asked for a top floor, having read people complain about the road noise, I had no problem with noise and am a light sleeper. If you don't know the city its built on the side of a hill, so when you read reviews of people saying "car are revving up the hill outside"..... good luck finding a hotel not on a hill with a road outside! The balcony has the most fantastic view over the city and looks right out to Mount Etna, what more could you want. Other reviews talk about there being no shower curtain, it's true and I don't know why there is not one, it makes showering difficult and hard not to make the floor wet. On my trip I was not charged for parking at the hotel, but it was quiet, an oversight, not sure. The parking is limited and we did not use the car for our stay so it was not an issue but I would think there would be a lot of shunting of cars if you did need to get out and you have to leave your keys at reception so they can shunt them around. Honestly, look past the decor and you have a good hotel.

    Dissapointed
Staff could not be bothered with too many questions or giving tourist information....almost like we were nuisances.....and the airconditioning was not turned on till 4pm despite the heat....location was in a quiet area serviced by the bus,and the breakfast was ok.

    wonderful coffee at breakfast!
the walk down to the shops and restaurant is ok - the walk back up fine on an evening when its cool! - cost of a taxi 10-12 euros! .the hotel pool was kept nice and clean but colddddd! Air con was switched on sometime in the afternoon, which was nice to walk into the bedrooms, but it was switched off in the early hours. could do with better bathrooms! even our toilet roll got wet through when taking a shower! but overall, very pleasant and helpful staff from the reception to the maids.

This hotel had a nice tranquil pool area with poolside showers and toilets and plenty of sunbeds available. There is no children's pool and the water, even in the shallow end is quite deep thus making the hotel a haven for adults who want a quiet life. The breakfast offered a good variety of fruit, cereals, rolls, cooked meat and cheese For car-hirers the garage was a plus as parking is at a premium on the narrow winding roads. The hotel charges six euros per day. The hotel was in a good position between the lovely but expensive tourist mecca of Taormina with it's gorgeous shops, cafes, ancient Greek Theatre and shady public gardens and the traditional mountaintop village of Castelmola with it's pretty square and marvellous views. On the slightly negative side the decor in the room was a little dated particularly the bathroom where the shower was especially gloomy. The poolside bar area was also not open for snacks etc which was an opportunity missed as guests were going to the local shop for sandwiches to eat by the pool (we were staying there in June and maybe it would be open in the high season of July/August). I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility difficulties due to the steepness of it's location. In summary this was a clean, comfortable value for money hotel with breathtaking views of Mount Etna, the coast, and the surrounding bougainvillea draped villages and deserving of it's three star rating.

Good location - BAD customer service!
Staff very friendly on arrival. Room had leaking shower hose which sprayed everywhere, soaking toilet rolls/towels. Worse was leaking aircon unit that dripped water all night so trip to bathroom meant either slip or freezing drip on head. Hotel promised to fix next day, said it had been done but it wasn't. Didn't move our room until our last night there. Staff dismissive of problem, lied daily it had been fixed & were even sarcastic to us. Aircon was very poor & only on between 3pm -3am! Couldn't take towel from room down to pool so had to rent one in lobby. Had to rent the fridge. The town is lovely so visit it but avoid this hotel. The attitude of the staff made us so angry & frustrated it ruined the first few days of our holiday.

Good value for money and great views but very noisy
Hotel Kristina offers good value for money. Its situated just a few minutes (steep) walk from Porto Catania. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The hotel pool was lovely after a days sightseeing. And there were great views of the bay of Naxos and Mt Etna from the balcony. The room was small but OK. The bathroom was dated and poorly laid out but adequate. However the noise of the dustcarts and scooters at 6am meant that we came home more tired than before the holiday!

    Very Happy With Hotel
6 of us stayed for one week in September and all were very happy with our stay there. It is a very basic hotel but is was clean and the rooms had everything we needed. The breakfast was sufficient and kept us going till lunch. The views from our balcony were lovely. There is a nice size pool and lots of space around it to chill out. The only down fall is there are 52 steps and some hills to get from the hotel to the main street but it only takes 10 mins. Would stay there again.

Hotel Villa Kristina 10 day stay.
I recently stayed in this Hotel for 10 days. I thought it was great value for money. The rooms were of a reasonable size. The room & bedding where cleaned every day. Breakfast was very nice. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to the centre of Taormina. Which is not to bad going to the town but getting back could be a struggle.

    Nice but....
Good and clean but a fair walk up hill from the main drag (Corso Umberto). The rooms were clean & staff friendly. However, we had a real issue with the Air Con. It failed to work for 3 days and the consierge really wasn't that bothered. He did get it fixed, but the next day, so we spent 2 nights boiling hot with a constant dripping noise! Not wheelchair friendly at all, but great to have a pool and be away from the noise of the main town. It also had beautiful views of Etna and the harbour. Good value for money.
