The Colessio is situated in the heart of downtown Stirling, which made it a very convenient location for exploring the city on foot. It is housed in an historic building which is quite lovely as well. Our room was clean and the bed was quite comfortable. We did find the heat a little difficult to regulate, and were quite hot through the night. The furniture and fixtures are a bit run down (i.e. the finish was lifting off the desk in the room and the sink had a large (repaired) crack down the middle, but everything was working, so that was really all we cared about. Unfortunately, there was some sort of problem in the kitchen, which meant that there was no food service in the restaurant, so we weren't able to take advantage of breakfast or dinner on site. The staff, however, were super friendly and very helpful.

Sadly not the best

Unfortunately after coming here over the years we have seen a reduction in quality. Staffing seems to be limited, with the front desk now closed down and check in now taking place at the cocktail bar where others are drinking. The restaurant was also closed while we stayed due to renovations, however this was not stated when booking. This meant no dinner and only continental breakfast was available despite still selling a full breakfast online. It’s a shame as the building is very beautiful, but the soft services need a lot of attention.

The staff are lovely, the location is great and the parking is easy and reasonably priced. The hotel itself needs a lot of money spent on it. It’s 3* at best. In our room the paint on the ceiling was flaking off, there’s a large greasy mark on the wall and the carpet was completely threadbare in some areas.

Never back again.

I recently stayed at this hotel and I have to say, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, I could tell that the place was very poorly managed. The bar was barely stocked when I tried to order a drink, I was told that they had “run out” of almost everything I wanted. It was incredibly frustrating. To make matters worse, the restaurant was closed for dinner, leaving guests with no proper dining options. Yet, they still charge you for a full cooked breakfast, but all they served was a poor continental spread that didn’t even come close to what I was expecting. On top of all that, the rooms were outdated and dirty. The cleanliness was far from acceptable, and the furniture looked like it hadn’t been updated in years. Overall, it was a disappointing stay, and I will definitely not be coming back.

Unfortunately handles on the shower did not work so we could only have a bath. It was late and we had been travelling for a full day. Staff were kind during check in and check out. I’m sure if we mentioned the water issue it would have been rectified.

Very modern and nicely equipped. The poor staff at breakfast were horribly understaffed, at least today. One person on shift to do everything! Not their fault but them having to bus, host, take orders, deliver orders and replenish buffet food compromises service.

Arrived early, we weren't expecting to check in but reception staff quite unhelpful, we had parked our car in the hotel car park but were told we only had 15 minutes to pay for parking and to do it straight away. We hadn't realised we had to pay for parking being patrons of the hotel, when i mentioned this i was told that i clearly hadn't read the extra information on the booking site. The room was supposed to be deluxe ,we had no fridge in the room and no air conditioning, the room was red hot, we opened the windows but no air was circulated. We had floor to ceiling windows that overlooked the car park. Anyone getting in there car could see in. We were on the second floor. There was also a lift that only went to the 1st floor. We had to go up in the lift to the first floor walk half way round the building to find the stairs then go up another 2 flights of stairs, further along the corridor and up a short flight of stairs to our room. No offer of assistant for luggage. We arrived for breakfast at 8.30 on the first morning to find nothing left on fruit buffet. When asked if we could have more fruit we were informed that there was non left. Although they had a resturant style area they did not have meals other than breakfast. No names were offered and service very poor. Only saving grace was lication of hotel

Great location, ideal for visiting both the castle and the town centre. Our room had a brand new refurbished bathroom that was fantastic, with a huge bath tub and separate shower but the room itself definitely needed new furniture as all the surfaces were worn and it could all do with a lick of paint. The bed was VERY hard (but I prefer them this way) and we had one window without curtains so it got bright early. We had a 'corner' room and it was very quiet throughout the night. With a few small touches this could be the most excellent hotel though!

Great Locaton & Comfortable

Great location near Stirling Castle, Holy Rude, pubs & restaurants. We opted for the breakfast which was good & a time saver. Only downside is the lighting in the bathroom. There is none at the sink & mirror.

I never leave reviews, but in this case I feel I should. The staff were lovely and the location amazing, however the property is totally run down. The carpets in the room were literally torn up, the furniture tattered, the pillows and beds uncomfortable, and the first room they offered us was so small we couldn’t open both suitcases. They gave us another room slightly bigger. The bathrooms were large and completely remodeled but the room itself was embarrassing. We were glad to be be there only one night.
