We enjoyed the resort and the access to the beach for great. The Sea side restaurant and bar was great. I would recommend their nachos. Our kids loved the game area they had in the lobby area.

Great beach access! Tower B smells awful. Pools need some major TLC. Went to the front to ask for some washcloths around 11pm, after the pools closed, was told housekeeping was gone for the day (they only leave 3 in the room). Charge $50 for chairs/umbrella at the beach. Overall, decent hotel—just needs some through maintenance.

Upkeep was decent. Bed sheets had some minor stains that weren’t hard to find. Bathroom tub had a clothes line that appeared moldy as did some of the calking. Staff member who brought some extra towels I requested didn’t even look up from his phone or respond to my “thank you” as he handed them over. For 300 dollars a night during peak season I think I’d choose elsewhere next time.

We loved the hard flooring in the room as I much prefer hard floor over carpet. My only issue was that the room did not match the photos at all. Even though it looked like a suite, it was definitely a small standard room. Also, breakfast available means it is not a free continental breakfast. It was reasonably priced by vacation standards and tasted great but was still $13/person which we were not aware of till we got there. The beach was fantastic. Though be aware to borrow their chair and umbrella is $50/day for use. Better to bring your own or buy something cheap at a local store. The bathrooms were small and only provided two towels for 4 people. With the beach and pools you do go through them over several days but they were pretty good about giving us new ones. We had a pool view and with the music and bar crowd it was a bit loud. I suggest getting ocean view if you want something quieter.

The front desk crew was amazing. They were friendly and helpful every time we visited. However, the restaurant in the hotel the Azul Ocean Grill and Spirits was hands down the worst restaurant experience I've had in a very long time. We waited over 2 hours for our food, and when it came out it was cold and tasted as if it had been cooked in a microwave. Service was horrible and it seemed like the same people serving the bar were serving the diners, which meant tables were left alone with no answers for the duration. Steer clear an deat elsewhere. Otherwise, the hotel was nice.

We stayed in room 337 Beach view, but the window was full of sanding obstructed the view the door hits the toilet, the dresser doesn’t even lineup to where you can put your clothes into it, the door does not open correctly and is super hard to even push open, which makes it hard to even lock, the room smells like mold when I asked if we could be moved because of the door, the window, the drawers they were going to put us in a room that did not even view the beach when we paid for a beach view. The fire alarm went off at least five times most of those were in the middle of the night. We were there with our kids. And it woke them up every time screaming because they did not know what was going on now to the pools. The pools are falling apart. The mosaic tiles were all just in the bottom from the side of the pool. Yes, they do have three pools all of them need TLC. The elevators don’t have AC in them and go super slow and when they are packed because everybody tried to pile into them because they go so slow it is very hot and uncomfortable. The parking is just crazy. The water that came out of the sink in the bathtub smell like sewage .We left Saturday morning Friday night. They had $20 parking for people that could just come in there and park so that means you would lose your spot or anywhere to park because they gave somebody a day pass to park there. holiday Inn beachfront gets a one star rating. This place needs so much need renovations.

This “Resort” is a facade. Looks nice on the outside, for the most part, but everything else is crumbling. When we first opened the door to our room, there was an overwhelming smell of mold. Each time you left and re-entered, the smell hit you. The carpet was filthy. My grandsons feet were black after walking around it. The bathroom is so small you can hardly sit on the toilet and close the door. The furnishings are old. They put a sloppy paint job over wall damage. We discovered our door could be opened from the outside without using the card to unlock it. Alerted the front desk through text they asked me to respond to. They quickly sent someone down to fix it, but we discovered the next day you could still turn the handle and get in. I also alerted them of mold. They offered to come do an inspection and possibly move us, but from what I read, most rooms have the same problem. I developed a sore throat over the course of our four night stay. Returned home and started feeling better. The service in their restaurant inside the lobby is awful. Not the hard working waitress's fault. They schedule her to work alone. We tried to eat dinner there one night, but the entertainment they book inside the lobby is so loud, you couldn’t have a conversation while eating, so we left. The main pool is so hot, it’s almost like being in a hot tub. It was fairly clean, but in need of serious repair. Long story short, I should have read all the horrible reviews before booking Beware!

Disappointing Stay- would Not recommend

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort in South Padre Island and unfortunately, my experience was far from what you’d expect from a reputable resort. Right from the start, the room was not in great shape. Several electrical outlets didn’t work at all, which was frustrating when trying to charge devices. The floors were sticky and dirty — walking barefoot left the bottoms of my feet literally black. The shower had serious drainage issues and pooled water around my feet every time I used it. There was a sticky residue on the table, and some of the lamps were rusty, which gave the room a very neglected feel. It clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained. On top of all that, the customer service was underwhelming. Calls to the front desk went unanswered multiple times, and when I finally got someone, they didn’t seem very interested in helping. For the price and brand, I expected a much better experience. Sadly, I can’t recommend staying here unless the property goes through serious maintenance and staff training.
