Our check in was excellent and smooth with the help of Ms. Helen, offering a discounted breakfast for the three of us. She also added my daughter in WeChat in case we need anything, and was kind enough to check every now and then even after we checked out. Our booking was for five nights, since the first night we noticed that the master bedroom was hot no matter how we try to adjust the temperature. The next morning we went to the reception and they told us we can’t change your room but will try to fix it. It was not fixed but they brought a portable Ac unit, the next night we asked for another one. One night before our departure we saw Ms. Helen and she offered to change our room but we told her we are checking out the next morning so there is no time for the late change. She was kind enough to give the girls small gifts, ice cream, and escort us to our cars.

Nice grand hotel, even it’s a bit dated, but very well maintained. Rooms are good size in this location, but the view from our rooms are not great. Breakfast is good, not outstanding though. Staffs are ok, only if you ask something, they will talk to you.

My stay at Portman was perfect! Besides its excellent location and elegant decor, the staff was incredibly lovely and cordial. Their hospitality and courtesy were superb. I would like to give my special thanks to Helen who patiently helped me solve my issues and accommodated my requests. With utmost kindness, she continuously ensured that my 8-day stay at Portman was joyful. She also updated me about the fast-changing nearby shopping malls, restaurants, and boutiques. My room was constantly crystal clean with pink roses and everything was perfectly placed. Therefore, I will definitely stay at Portman again when I come back to Shanghai next time.

We had a wonderful stay at the Portman Ritz-Carlton. The location was convenient and all the staff were attentive to detail and very welcoming. The buffet selection was wonderful and we were able to try something new every day of our week-long stay. We were travelling to celebrate a large birthday and the team very kindly arranged some room decorations and a lovely cake, thank you! We can't speak highly enough of our experience and will definitely be back.

What a wonderful experience. Service was terrific, food was wonderful and Frank, the guest services manager, could not have been more helpful and an example of what the word “hospitality” means. Would definitely be my first choice.
