The hotel’s location is truly excellent, within easy walking distance of Nanjing Road and The Bund. I found certain aspects of the accommodation below expectations for a five-star property.
The room itself felt quite dated, and the bed was noticeably worn, as the mattress springs could be felt when lying down. This affected overall comfort, which was disappointing given the hotel’s rating and reputation. I sincerely hope the management considers refurbishing the rooms and upgrading the bedding to enhance guest comfort.
The bathroom also appeared outdated, and the abundance of mirrors made the space feel somewhat overwhelming rather than luxurious. A design refresh here would greatly improve the overall impression and guest experience.
Breakfast was decent but fairly average, with room for improvement in both variety and presentation.
In summary, while the location is outstanding and offers convenient access to Shanghai’s key attractions, the rooms and facilities would benefit from an update to bring them in line with modern five-star standards. With some thoughtful renovations, this hotel could easily reclaim its former charm.
