We had a one night stay between cruises. The front desk receptionist, Carly greeted us upon our arrival and gave a few options to do while we waited for check in. We checked in but I room wouldn't be ready since we got there around 11am. We were able to store our luggage at the hotel and walk to mall that is very near. Had lunch and did some shopping. When we returned, a room was available for us early. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

The lobby and public areas are attractive and very contemporary. However, the rooms are way too small and the air conditioning was non-existent. We were so uncomfortable in the room due to the temperature that we considered leaving the hotel. Supposedly they had someone “check“ the system, but nothing changed. If you want to stay in a super hot room that is crowded, we recommend this place. If you are looking for space and comfort, this is not the place. The only thing it has going for it is it’s proximity to the Southampton port, which is literally a five minute drive away.

The number one thing about this property is the staff! They are helpful, compassionate and so professional. This is the best place to stay before cruising out of Southampton. As you can imagine, they are constantly dealing with people who want to check in early after an overnight international flight, or who want to check out late because they can’t board their ship until after noon. They handle it all so well. Dining room was excellent and location allowed for quick walk to High Street and the historic walls. The property is beautifully renovated and very comfortable.

A Lovely Stay with a Few Quirks

My recent stay at this hotel was genuinely pleasant. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, and the views from the room added a peaceful charm to the overall experience. While the bathroom was immaculate, it was extremely compact—definitely a one-person-at-a-time space, which made getting ready a bit of a juggling act. Breakfast had its ups and downs: while the general offerings were great, the poached eggs weren’t quite up to scratch. They’d clearly been pre-cooked and left to sit, ending up hard in the middle. Unfortunately, staff seemed hesitant to prepare fresh ones upon request, which was a slight letdown. Despite these small hiccups, I would stay again. The core comforts and atmosphere made it a memorable visit. Perhaps with a few tweaks, it could be exceptional.

Lovely check in with Jose. Made the whole process very easy. Room was fabulous - we could see the cruise ships from our bed. Bed was enormous & very comfortable. Loved every minute! We didnt eat there as we had other plans so cant comment on the food!

Sunday in Southampton

I arrived from the airport after an early morning flight. José at reception took excellent care of me, taking my bags, introducing me to restaurant staff to avail of impromptu breakfast and facilitating an early check-in into a lovely room. I was very impressed by the modern nautical themed décor, friendly attentive staff and comfortable surroundings. Nice touches in the lobby area such as plain and flavoured iced water add to the welcoming feel. The hotel location is excellent with the main shopping area only a five minute walk with lots of historic sights to see en route. I would recommend this hotel and I will definitely book Voco by IHG in other locations in the future.
