Stayed here while visiting the area for our sons wedding. The property was lovely, the pool was amazing and the air conditioning was enjoyed by all in the heat wave. Sophie looked after us every inch of the day. We have rented many properties but Sophie must be the best host ever!

Paradise in Sarlat
After opening the gates to Sophieâs property, we werenât quite prepared for how amazing the view was over the town over Sarlat. With a larger than average pool directly overlooking the town as well, it was evident that this place had beauty in abundance. The house itself was very well laid out, with everything to hand and access to a fantastic terrace overlooking the pool and the town as well. The grounds were totally private and safely enclosed for our two dogs to enjoy. We were very grateful for the air conditioning in every room ( and the fantastic pool) especially considering the soaring temperatures outside. The town was easily accessible, with a footpath located right next to the entrance. 10 minute walk and you have the beautiful medieval town of Sarlat at your disposal, with all its restaurants and entertainment. Our only regret, is that we didnât stay longer, but after 26 years of visiting France, I would say that this is definitely in our top three, but we wonât say which one!!!.

Can't recommend. Only stayed 2 nights.
Booked for 1 week last August but only stayed 2 nights. Property not cleaned properly, left over food in fridge, old bedding and BBQ etc. in gardens. Hot tub not cleaned so unusable whilst we were there.
Owners unhelpful.

House with a view in Sarlat
We had a fantastic stay in Jean and Sophie's house in Sarlat. It's in an excellent position just a short walk to Sarlat town centre and an easy drive to most of the places you'd wish to visit. The view over Sarlat is stunning.
The amenities were everything you need for all ages to enjoy and were well kept and in a good condition. One shower sprung a leak and the gates got stuck but were immediately fixed with minimum fuss. Thank you for that!
The video of how to get to the house was incredibly useful as we arrived very late and in the dark and the food and drink left for us was a thoughtful and welcome touch - again thank you!
The whole family and partners had a thoroughly happy week and we would definitely consider going back and recommend to anyone to stay in this beautiful house.

The house is in an ideal quiet location with idyllic views. Itâs a short walk to the centre of Sarlat and has easy access to surrounding attractions. The house had effective air conditioning and was well resourced. The pool was fabulous.
The only minor issue was there were no rooms with en-suite toilets.
The house was very good value and I would highly recommend it

Superb Dordogne Stay
Fantastic stay in a wonderful location. Very close to the beautiful town of Sarlat, as well as close to the Dordogne river. Great base to explore the surrounding areas whilst having a beautiful view to accompany some splendid rouge vin during the night. Sophie was a great host with really quick communication on any questions we had. Very nice surprise of a keg of beer waiting for us.
Only downside was some weeds were overgrown on the terrace hampering the view somewhat!

An amazing adventure in the center of Medieval History!
Sophie and Jean's home is the perfect location for a relaxing and amazing vacation. My three friends and I arrived in Sarlat and immediately relaxed in this gorgeous home. There was plenty of space for us all to have our own private comfortable rooms and also gorgeous locations for our joint gatherings. I can't say enough about the beauty of this home overlooking Sarlat, the comfort of the pool, and the blooming flowers everywhere! Sophie was easily accessible and so helpful with all of her suggestions. We definitely want to return!

Perfect holiday home in a great location.
Weâve just stayed two weeks in this marvellous house which is a short walking distance from Sarlat. Our first impression was that the photographs did not do it justice. All subsequent impressions confirmed that view. The house is fully stocked with all the amenities one could want, from the toys in and around the large pool to the pool and table tennis table on the patio. A large outside table makes family mealtime easy and trouble free.
Inside you have a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge with two downstairs bedrooms with showers. Upstairs there are two further bedrooms with an excellent bathroom, with a large shower.
The house also has lots of games to keep the kids entertained in case it rains, as this didnât happen during our stay, we just enjoyed the pool.
Communication with Sophie was excellent and any queries were resolved quickly. We were pleasantly surprised by the welcome gifts that were left for us, such as wine, a food parcel and beer. A lovely, much appreciated touch.
The location of the property is perfect for walking into Sarlat. At the bottom of the drive, you turn left, follow a path and 7 minutes later youâre in the centre of Sarlat
Weâve holidayed in Sarlat for the last 30 years and this is the best house that weâve rented. Weâll be back.

Character House in Sarlat
My husband and I rented the house for 5 weeks and in all fairness, we noticed the quirks that anyone renting for one week might not even notice.
Let me start with the many good things. We arrived to find a bottle of wine, a duck breast and a sausage in the refrigerator; brioche and jam on the kitchen table; and a full âkegoratorâ (beer on tap). We were very happily surprised at the Jean-Ivesâ generosity. The house was very clean and all the linens were on the beds and towels were in each room. The house is large and comfortable. The bathroom on the second floor is beautifully done. The bedrooms are all a good size. The two downstairs bedrooms each have a shower in them. One downstairs bedroom has a sink and vanity with good storage. The washer and dryer are located in the shed by the pool. At one point the dryer died. In less than two days a new dryer was delivered.
There is every conceivable âtoyâ at the house. There is a mini-pool table and ping-pong table on the porch. The heated pool is huge and has a hot and cold shower and fuszeball table on the deck. There are floating toys and plenty of lounge chairs and two large umbrellas. Julian comes to clean the pool and the hot tub every Saturday. We didnât barbecue (too many good restaurants in town) but there is a gas grill as well as a brick charcoal grill. We spent many evenings sitting at the big patio table with a glass of wine and taking in the gorgeous unobstructed view.
We wanted to rent a house with character and this house has just that. However, there are a few suggestions we would make to enhance the rental experience.
The driveway washed away in torrential rains before and after we first came, I know Jean-Ives will repair that.
There are only two toilets in the house, one upstairs and one downstairs. The loo on the first floor is very, very small but does include a small sink. Another toilet on the first floor would make a huge difference. There is a clean toilet in the shed, which we did use in a pinch.
The kitchen is not very functional, no counter space and the stove is old. It is otherwise well-equipped. There are perhaps too many pots and pans, too many plates, and not enough storage. One drawer had no back and a broken bottom. New kitchen cabinets and stove would be perfect.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay. Our whole family and some friends came and everyone had a wonderful time.

A lovely secluded renovated farmhouse in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the Dordogne
We stayed at Jean's villa for a week in May 2018 and cannot recommend this villa highly enough! For us (two couples, thirty somethings) it was the perfect combination of a spacious, secluded villa where you could happily spend the day, but it's proximity to the beautiful old town of Sarlat provided a huge selection of restaurants and shops within a short walk!
We particularly loved the outside patio area and gorgeous, well sized pool. There was a large table to eat al fresco which can be covered during the sunny days with an awning. On a couple of nights we used the gas bbq (there is also a charcoal one) and we found the kitchen very well equipped to self cater, a real home from home. There is some lovely comfy outside furniture on which to enjoy a drink in the evenings and the pool has plenty of sun-loungers and parasols. We also made good use of the pool table, there would be plenty to keep kids entertained, table tennis, foosball etc.
The villa has a very homely feel and is clean and well equipped. As two couples we both enjoyed having our own space and a bathroom each.
Despite being so close to town the villa is very private and peaceful, it's elevated position means it looks over the rooftops of Sarlat. The location was ideal for exploring the area, we hired a car but were grateful we could at least walk into Sarlat for evening meals so that we didn't have to find parking. Our highlight of the trip was taking a Canoe from Vitrac down the Dordogne river (pack a picnic and pull over on the bank!) and the panoramic views from Domme. The whole area is so picturesque with a chateaux galore, we could have easily spent another week exploring.
Jean and his cousin Etiene were extremely helpful and friendly and very responsive to messages, they really made our stay an easy and very pleasant one. Our welcome gift of a local wine and some delicious smoked duck was greatly appreciated a really nice touch.
We would definitely stay in the villa again should we return to the area, you will not be disappointed!

Great location and place to stay
We stayed here in June 2017 for a week. The villa is fantastic, well equipped with everything we needed and the heated swimming pool was gorgeous. Stunning views from the terrace and lots of outside space. We flew into Bordeaux and found the 2.5 hours drive and finding the villa really easy.
The location is perfect with the villa situated in a quiet area and only being a short 10 minute walk into town with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. So it really is a perfect balance between it being peaceful at the villa and more lively down in the town.
A lot of the attractions and places to see are only a 20 minute drive away, would highly recommend the Marqueyssac gardens as a good place to visit.
The owner and his cousin are really helpful and quick to get back to you if you have any queries or problems.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it.
We will look forward to staying here again in the future.
