The Gîte de la Commanderie is located in the small hamlet of La Canéda (a former Templar commandery). It is a detached house of 110 m² for 2 to 4 people with a terrace, courtyard, and 750 m² garden.
Adjoining a 12th-century church, a listed historical monument, which is no longer in use, this unique and very old house is steeped in history: it once housed Templars, later became a presbytery, and then a simple private residence. Its meticulous renovation harmoniously blends old-world charm with modern amenities.
On the ground floor, the house comprises a fully equipped kitchen opening onto the dining room with access to the garden, where you will find a vegetable patch with aromatic herbs (thyme, parsley, mint, chives, rosemary, etc.) and a living room featuring a small grotto.
A stone and wood staircase leads to the spacious first-floor mezzanine, furnished with a sofa and cozy nooks. It provides access to a large bedroom with a queen-size bed (160x200 cm) and a fireplace. The bathroom with a walk-in shower is also located on this floor and opens onto a small south-facing terrace.
A beautiful iron and wood staircase leads to a smaller mezzanine. This is a pleasant reading nook with a library and board games. It opens onto the second bedroom, equipped with a king-size bed (180x200 cm) that can be converted into two single beds (90x200 cm).
Both bedrooms, as well as the main living areas, are air-conditioned, and the bedding is new and comfortable.
Both mezzanines overlook the shared wall with the church. The old door leading to the church, the sundial on the bathroom wall, and the small grotto in the living room invite you to step back in time.
The house has a separate stone laundry room with direct access to the garden. It includes a washing machine, a dryer, a clothes drying rack, a toilet, and a sink.
Due to health measures, bed linen and towels will only be provided upon request. Household linen is provided.
The price does not include bed linen (€20 per bed) and towels (€5 per person).
