As the person in front was filling out paperwork, Bonnie took a moment to get my check in started. I appreciated her efficiency in cutting down my check in time. As I opened the door to our room I noticed a smell right away. Wasn’t sure if it was smoke or must but it hit strong and I immediately went back to the lobby. I asked her if I had a non-smoking room and she assured me all rooms are. I told her about the smell and she followed me to the room to check it out. Once we opened the door she said she knew what it was. She said being close to the Gulf, all rooms smell musty. She advised to turn AC on cold to help. For the next hour all I could do was think about the smell and I was so bummed this could dampen our trip. We paid extra for a kitchen room bc we planned to cook but with that smell there was no way we could stay any longer than sleeping in the room. I asked her if we could downgrade to a room with no kitchen. She was very accommodating. After an hour on the phone with Expedia and waiting for her to speak to her manager, we finally got in a different room. She was kind enough to allow me to check out the new rooms smell before we committed to it. The new room did smell a bit better and I was so thankful. We were able to hang out in the room and the rest of the night was great. Bed was cozy. Room darkening shades gave me great sleep. Loved the protein options for breakfast. A few cats were in parking lot. Overall was good but won’t be back bc of smell.

Extremely clean and the smell was lavender scent, front desk was very welcoming and has outstanding service. The room was spotless and I previously had a bad hotel experience for Halloween (2025) and this hotel made me feel warming and open to only booking for La Quinta Wyndham.
