The room had a prepetual sticky floor, the paint from the walls was rubbing off on my things as well. My room had no air conditioning or ventilation but a ceiling fan that was too loud to sleep with, so I was sweating bullets for a week. The wifi had 3 different networks and they were all so intolerably slow until the point that I gave up and used my data service. The staff was nice, but not a single one knew a word in a language that's not Portuguese. The area where the hostel is, is right near a bar and a plaza in the center of Rio, rendering a sketchy walk in the night. To sum up, I would book the hostel if only I had no other option, for there are thousands in such a city as Rio de Janeiro.

This hotel was in such a bad, dirty neighborhood. It was super dangerous at night. The hotel is very run down and needs many, many repairs. There were sometimes no toilet paper in the bathrooms. The room itself was so small it was hard to move around in. I could touch both walls with my hands and I am 5’2”! There was no air conditioning or WiFi. There was a tiny, old fan blowing very little air. The staff was pretty nice and helpful though.

Dangerous and untrusted

The most dangerous place full of gangsters and prostitutes full of cigarette smokers, very hot no window and no friendly approach from the reception and no English speaker and not secured at all. There is as well time limit for entering room because of the danger that may come from the area. I won't recommend for anyone who needs comfort and security. I did not stay the whole time there I walked out on 17/11/2024 because of all the dirty situation there. Despite they did not give me the right service, they were not in a position to give me back my money which I paid for ten days. I only stay for 3 days they could not return my 7 days paid money.

The place looks like an old poor man's shelter. The entry is through a locked, jail style steel door with bars. The room's only window connects to the only hallway so all the smells and noises are shared with everyone. This place is cheap but not worth the low cost if you intend to sleep or if you have respiratory limitations like asthma or are generally used to sleep in a smoke free environment. My neighbor was chain smoking and the only cooling are ceiling fans which spread smoke and the smell of ashes and old urine throughout the place. The smells were vomit inducing. The noise was constant. This place is incredible in it's own way but not even suitable to store luggage for a few hours. I had to catch a flight in the early hours and discovered that we were locked in for the night. Had to make noise for a while, banging on doors, to wake up the warden who is the only one that can open the door. What if there is a fire, I wonder?

Quarto do tamanho apropriado para uma pessoa só. Ambiente relativamente limpo, mas não é a proposta pra quem está acostumado a ter um ambiente mais privativo, visto que chuveiro e banheiro são compartilhados e isso gera inconvenientes. Quarto mto peqno e quente d+, a cama mto peqna. O ventilador de teto não dá conta de arejar o peqno espaço. 1 tv de 14p, 2 prateleiras na parede, 1 criado mudo. Vc abre os braços e toca as paredes a largura. O piso de madeira no corredor faz um barulho horrível. As funcionárias (que se esperam pra limpar o espaço e recepcionar os hóspedes, ou só abrir o portão), variam de humor o tempo todo. O gerente, que fez meu check in, juntamente com a assistente que limpa o espaço, recepciona e abre portão de entrada - quis me cobrar uma diária extra... Abri meu email e mostrei a transação com o App. Aí ele mudou o tom da conversa( fingindo)... Disse que ia falar com o patrão.
