The location of the property is prime! Right across the street from the beach. There is a quaint bar to the left of the property upon exit that serves delicious empanadas. The staff is warm and helpful; even the ones who don't speak English. We stayed in the double twin bed room which is where things were dissatisfactory. The room was dated with scoffed laminate flooring, mildew growth in the shower and a persistent mildew smell throughout the small quarters. Another thing to beware of is gym staff by the name of Sebastian who claims to be a PT and masseuse. PT he is definitely but a masseuse he is not! The "massage" services he offers are horrible! Use the female for your massage needs. She is great!

The welcome and helpfulness of the staff is first class. They never gave the impression that a request is too much bother. We had requests for an extra chair and hangers and this was no problem, both provided promptly - as was the iron and a room clean. We had a situation with a wallet left in a taxi and the staff were empathetic, doing all they could to help locate the driver...and enquiring the following day as to whether it was found. The facilites are well maintained and the common areas execeptional in cleanliness and tidyness. I would recommend without hesitation

The Grand Mercure is a great hotel. Comfortable, clean, with an amazing staff. If I ever return to Rio, I will return to the Grand Mercure.

The hotel facility is great, the service was good but it needs improvement. When calling the front desk for a service, they sometimes would respond immediately and sometimes they would forget all together. The staff was friendly and kind, but there needs to be more coordination, sometimes we would need to reach out to three different staff to finally get the service needed. Also recommend to train more of their staff in english and spanish language. Generally, we loved the hotel and would stay again, but there is room for improvement.

Nice pool and nice bar, but the check-in process and the checkout process are pretty horrible This is very typical with Brazilian hotels but 35 minutes to check out is just ridiculous

Overall great hotel. When we left at 430 am we had a staff member chase us out thinking we had not paid but we had paid in full prior. That was a bit uncomfortable he didn’t even ask if we enjoyed our stay. Other than that centrally located close to everything,

Fine but don't use pressing/laundry service

Place was fine it was under construction part of the time staff was pretty friendly. But I had a shirt pressed and they sprayed some chemical on it and got these light spots all over it. They said they would take it back and fix it, did that twice but fixed nothing just re packaged it. Then a staff member came to the room and took pictures and insured i would be reimbursed. i asked her if she wanted receipts she said no. Four inquires later and I just get deflected every time because said party isn't in or whatever excuse they have for the day. Stay there it's fine they are nice but be warned don't use the laundry service or expect to be reimbursed at all if they mess your stuff up.

Nice hotel nice staff and excellent breakfast just prepare for a long wait on check in and checkout. Think my check in was about 20 mins and checkout 15 or so. Maybe poor layout as in both occasions they had to move from one desk to another to get printouts or photocopy. Other than that I’d stay again quite happily.

The Grand Mercure is a wonderful hotel with excellent service and great tour connections. The included breakfast, complimentary beach chairs/umbrella, and spa/gym are excellent benefits of the hotel. The hotel is under renovation and it was extremely inconvenient to get off in the middle of a busy street with bags to check in and hotel staff to assist. The hotel reception was just concrete screed. Quite easily the worst stay in a 4/5 star hotel so far and I’ve been in more than 15/20 hotels in the last couple of years

The personal who works at this Hotel are great, on all areas since the hosting,cleaning, brunnch service, front desk and make us feel great to everyone of my family. These guys are very friendly and eager to service and give the best of them.
