We stayed here in October and was a great place. It was obviously off season so the area was very quiet. Deb was extremely helpful with places to eat and see.

We enjoyed our stay in the cozy cabin at Canyon Lake Resort. We were able to cook the fish we caught right outside and enjoy our supper in the nice outside area by our cabin. It was very quiet and relaxing.

Calling this property a "resort" is a stretch. There is a very small pool, a basketball court and two fire pits. The cabins are close together so not much privacy if you're outside. Upon opening the door to our small cabin we were greeted with an unpleasant old/musty odor. A friend who lives in Rapid City brought us a diffuser to try to mask the smell. There has been some remodeling done in the cabin living space but the kitchenette is original and the bedroom carpet was matted, crusty and gross. The windows and window sills were dirty. The beds were firm but ok to sleep on. Pros: Check in/check out was easy but I never saw the office open. It's located next to a park with a beautiful lake. The two fire pit areas were nice. In closing, when I made the reservation for Canyon Lake Resort I thought I was booking the adjoining property called Lake Park Campgrounds and Cabins. I've stayed there before and it's an upgrade. Lesson learned! I won't be making that mistake again!

Rooms are a little dated but the property with the small lake and waterfowl provided an overall relaxing and peaceful experience. Would have loved to have gone out on a complimentary paddle boat but it was too late in the season.

I got a reservation for a nice room in the Lodge, but the Lodge is now closed and instead I got a very dated cabin nearby. I was disappointed they did not inform me that the Lodge was closed so that I could make alternate accommodations.

The motel room we stayed in was dated and the bed was really uncomfortable, however, the sweet lady at the front desk was so apologetic and kind. Her friendly personality and help with this matter made it a positive experience and I would recommend them.

Peaceful, clean, and comfortable!

A great place to stop. Our room was easy to find, and was scrupulously clean. The resort has age, which shows in the little things such as some desilvering in the mirrors and some outdated decor. However the place was kept very tidy and appears well maintained. We were pleasantly surprised with the kitchenette in our room. The A/C worked great and the resort has many complementary amenities such as a fire pit (wood provided) and paddle boats. The area is quiet and peaceful. We had no issues during our stay and would gladly return.

Cabins could use a little TLC (dripping faucets). No housekeeping service for the 3 night stay (towels with holes in them). Small pillows. Only 2 coffee discs for the entire weekend, Plus side -- well stocked fire pits and personal outdoor grills. Reunion building was great.

Don't trust the online pics w/ this place.

This place looks great if you ck it out online. No iron or ironing board provided. Room stunk of muskiness, rug needs a shampoo, bath needs a reno, no fan in bath. A/c didn’t work properly & it was hot that day/night. I really expected a decent stay but online rep was misleading. Was glad to leave & glad only booked 1 night. I’d never rec it to anyone. We loved SD tho,, do visit it, but stay elsewhere, it was no bargain either, lesson learned.
