Perfectly positioned. A short walk from the river - everything else within 15 mins away and the best pastel de nata place 10 steps away. I went in a stormy Jan so no music in the square- regardless it was a great hotel and experience. Port and pastel de nata to welcome you, cute stationary shop behind check in, clean and comfortable rooms. Nothing negative to say. We had breakfast one morning, 9eur if booked the night before and a really excellent buffet breakfast with smoked salmon, great little breads and hot and cold selection. Such a charming and friendly hotel.

Great location, great people at the front desk, kind of hard to find, we took a whole to realize where the entrance was, and Uber Eats couldn't find us either. Rooms are ok, good place to stay

The hotel is in a good location within walking distance to many historic places, restaurants, and train station. The restaurant right next door is lively. The room was well equipped, clean, and there was a small balcony to sit outside with drinks. Our room didn't have the roadside view.

The hotel is not accessible by car. The front of the hotel is blocked for automobiles. But it’s not a bad walk, with luggages, it’s a challenge if you have more than 2 rolling luggages. Other than that it was an awesome stay. The free wine was good.

The A.S. 1829 is one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in. They did a wonderful drop working with the pen and stationary downstairs (open since 1829) to retain the aesthetics and character of the building. The room was elegant and spacious. The staff were wonderful. A 5 star stay for sure. The only criticism, and this is a tiny thing, is that the light switches are comically complicated. Very unclear which buttons control which lights and many don’t control any light at all. But all around this just made for some great comedy.

Our stay at this hotel was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond when we arrived drenched from a torrential downpour. The glass of port and the welcome pastry were delicious. The room was confortable and the windows opened up on the courtyard…we even got to enjoy some live music from our room. Thank you for a lovely stay.

This was a great location and a very nice hotel. We liked the walkable street with all the sidewalk cafes and live music outside our balcony. Very easy distance to walk down to the Ribeira area on the waterfront.

The location of this hotel is amazing! The street is filled with restaurants, shops, street artists and musical entertainment. There are no cars allowed, so you will need to be dropped off around the corner, but totally worth it. Room was quite large by European standards and the bed was comfortable. Staff was good, property was clean. We loved it.
