Staff were very friendly and professional, apartment was amazing and spacious, the only down point it's the view from the rear of the property as it's an abandoned building.

The rooms were clean, modern and air conditioned. Bathroom and furniture were all in good condition and new. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I forgot my computer charger and called the front desk and they immediately arranged a taxi to drop it off at the airport. It is a great location right on the harbour and walking distance to all the sights in the city.

The staff was extremely helpful in explaining hiking trails , good suggestions & polite. They like their jobs & it shows. Breakfast was great & plenty to choose from.

The check-in was great. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. The walking path along the water is quite nice given the the road is very busy! The shopping and dining options near the hotel are not varied.

We appreciated the help at the front desk. All the staffs were very professional especially Jason. They all are very courteous and helpful. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet very much as there were a variety of food and drink selections.The kitchen staff and servers were very helpful as well. Our rooms were kept very clean each day.

This aparthotel was very clean and updated. Staff at front desk were very helpful if you needed something. Breakfast room was nice and food was excellent. We had a two bedroom ocean view which was quiet, clean and had a nice view of the harbor. The sofa bed was sized for small children so they needed to provide us with a rollaway bed for my adult son. Just something to keep in mind as it was not obvious when I booked. The beds in the bedrooms were American doubles, so could not be split into twin beds.

Had a great five night stay. At check in we were greeted by Elsa and Alexandra at the reception desk. Both of these ladies are true ambassadors of the hotel and the island. They were so pleasant, informative and willing to go out of their way to ensure we were made aware of all important things like tours, car rental, in house needs, restaurants, shopping, etc. It was a great way to start our visit. Our room was very good, large and quiet despite overlooking the harbour. The room and the entire hotel is spotless. Staff are constantly cleaning all areas of the facility. The breakfast area is very well managed with staff constantly clearing and cleaning tables and replenishing food. As for the staff in the hotel, there wasn’t one who didn’t greet us with pleasantries. It really appeared as though they all enjoyed their jobs and were dedicated to ensuring the guests were treated with respect. Amenities like a constant supply of bottled water, coffee supplies, daily cleaning, plush towels, robes, etc. were all part of an excellent stay. I would highly recommend the Hotel and would most definitely stay there again should we return.

We had a great experience at Hotel Gaivota. It was a really convenient base location to explore Sao Miguel, really clean and comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. Lots to do in the immediate area, and the parking garage right across the street was really convenient for us.

Stressful - as per Expedia, check in ends at midnight and to contact the property if you will be arriving after midnight. From Lisbon I messaged the property, they were very prompt to respond that their desk is manned 24/7 so I didn’t have to stress. We parked on the street - cheap and easy. The room was very nice - crisp but smelled horrible- musty dirty laundry smell. The thermostat was set to heat and could not change it to just fan - opening the balcony door helped. Loved the coffee and local pastry in the room - lovely b touch. Pillows were again smelly and very very hard. Breakfast was excellent !
