The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were highly professional. The reception team, especially Rashav and his female colleague, were extremely attentive and helped make our stay very pleasant. Breakfast had limited options but was ok, while dinner was absolutely brilliant! compliments to the chef! The pool and sauna facilities were also very relaxing. The hotel building itself is around 500 years old, yet remarkably well maintained. Its rich history was one of the main reasons we chose to stay here. The location is beautiful too, situated next to the Polish Map of Scotland and a lovely yew tree walk with an altar at the end. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

In checking, we were given a room which unfortunately was above the pool and you could hear a loud buzzing from fans and water jets. Contacted reception and we were given a quieter room straight away. No problem at all. The rooms themselves were looking tired and in need of refurbishments. We went for a swim in the evening and the lady’s changing room had a strong smell of urine which put me off. An okay stay overall. Good value for money.

Great hotel with lovely room. Bathroom was down a narrow corridor’ within the room which had a super squeaky floor, so woken several times during the night by my husband going to the toilet. Only one hand towel and no slip mat for the shower which was disappointing. Dinner was lovely and well down for a separate vegan menu.

Beautiful place - courteous staff!

This was a beautiful hotel! It is a historic building so it has it’s quirks but it was neat to stay here! The staff was friendly and this one included the free breakfast. The only thing I would caution is the room was a long way through a maze of stairs and corridors so if you brought múltiple suitcases and have a car then plan ahead and only take what you will need and be wearing the next day in your smaller case otherwise this place was fantastic! I think they may have offered to help with the bags - if you have all your bags, take them up on that! This one is also the only one we stayed at on our two week trip where parking wasn’t a challenge - they have a large lot!

A night in Peebles at the Barony Castle Hotel

Just a lovely place. Facility was beyond my expectations and we loved the quirky half a rugby field sized topographical map of Britain celebrating the Polish army presence during WW2. The setting was beautiful; convenient base for local exploring. Staff was very friendly and attentive. It was very clean and the four of us felt very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and found excellent value.

Really lovely staff, particularly the waiters: waitresses in the restaurant. Very tasty food, nice breakfast. Hotel itself is quite run down. The room was very dusty- mould in the bathroom around baths etc. had a fan which blew dust all over the room and unfortunately the bed was uncomfortable- springs poking me in the back. Pool and sauna was nice - but again. Everything worn/ old. I’d go here for a meal- but I personally wouldn’t stay here again.
