A Quirky special place to stay.

Beautifully quirky former Oxford Prison hotel. We wanted to stay in a cell room which are only offered with a double bed. We would normally have looked for twin beds but on check in, were offered the opportunity for an extra single bed to be put in the room. Staff were very helpful and professional. The prison has been sympathetically transformed and retains all the former features which make it a special place to stay. Parking was offered right outside if needed. Location is perfect for exploring Oxford.

Excellent experience with helpful reception and catering staff. Only downside is lack of air conditioning and extractor fan in bathroom. The cell rooms offer a novelty overnight stay. Scaffolding outside did not distract from a pleasurable stay in an historic area in the centre of Oxford.

Friendly, comfortable and central.

Really lovely hotel, bang in the middle of Oxford. Very friendly staff, comfortable rooms and interesting building. It is an old prison so the layout can be unusual but it's a very interesting building. Our room had (very good) air conditioning which was handy, I don't think every room has it.

My wife tripped and fractured her ankle on the street. The staff at the Malmaison went beyond the call of duty to accomodate us and get us ice and a wheelchair and really helped us out.

Not terrible, but I wouldn’t return.

We arrived early and were told the room would be available in about a hour. It was actually available just after the official check in time. I would have been just fine knowing the time was at 3 - why set unrealistic expectations? The room we were in was below ground level, which makes for a dark atmosphere. The shower drained so poorly that we had to turn it off in the middle to avoid creating a flood. The people were nice but. didn’t seem too focused on service. Or was the kind of place where they know you won’t come back, so why bother. If
