Boutique Hotels in Old Town Rethymnon

I booked based off the good reviews but unfortunately I didn’t have this experience. They put me in a room on the ground floor which had big windows that opened up wide enough for someone to easily climb through. The side gate was open so anyone could walk in off the street (they said it was closed but it was open the whole time I was there). Without opening this window, there was no natural light in the room. Being a solo female traveller, I didn’t feel safe being in this room so I asked to move. so they charged me an extortionate amount to upgrade rooms. They blamed me for not looking on their website, but I booked through Hotel.com and didn’t say anywhere that the room was on the ground floor. I’d already paid for the first room so I didn’t feel like I had any choice but to pay extra which felt sore because the hotel itself is very basic. The shower was so small I couldn’t even reach down and I also left my phone charger in one of the rooms when I checked out and they refused to give it back to me. Staff were rude and unfriendly. I could hear the hum of the fridge all night even with earplugs in. I also didn’t think the sheets or floors were very clean. I would advise avoiding this hotel if you want a stress free holiday.

The hotel rooms are above a popular taverna, with very loud music playing until 2am. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay, this is not it.

Building, courtyard with pool, and rooms were very nice. Bathrooms however were not well maintained and showers had issues such as not having a mount on the wall to hold the shower head and not having shower curtain and plugged drains. The bathrooms desperately need to be updated. The breakfast was ok but other hotels we stayed at in Crete had much nicer breakfast selections.
