The hotel is an imposing building at a prominent location in Oban a short walk from bus stops and the train station. My room was comfortable with traditional furnishings. Although l had some occasional internal noise from other rooms l slept very well. I was at the front of the hotel but there was little external noise. The buffet breakfast had various hot and cold options with efficient service. Good poached eggs were cooked to order. The hotel has a bar that serves meals. All the staff l met were friendly and helpful. I would certainly stay at the hotel again.

Fantastic welcome from reception staff who were very friendly. Managed to find a space in the small car park at the back which was a . As I walked up the stairs, I was slightly worried as the carpets are extremely worn and tatty - coming away from the walls in places. However, upon entering my room, I was relieved to find it beautifully decorated and clean. The bathroom looked new and the shower was very powerful. I will note that the shampoo holder was broken, though. Having breakfast included was great - I headed down and unfortunately the lady seated me but did not tell me that there was a buffet so I did spend a few minutes sat there waiting for someone to take my order before I realised I needed to go in the next room and help myself. It would’ve been nice if she had explained that when she sat me down! Breakfast was wonderful, tasty with lots of choice and there was a proper coffee machine, which is always appreciated. Checkout was easy. I just dropped the keys and I was asked if everything had been okay. Will definitely be returning.

The Royal Hotel is located right in the heart of Oban, which makes for easy traveling around the town from the hotel. Parking is challenging, though, so be prepared to walk a block or two the the hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious.

Very clean and comfortable room. Spacious corner room with sea views from both windows as we were on the 3rd floor . Great choice for breakfast Bar prices very reasonable Car park chaotic. Some parts of the bathroom needed updated

Convenient for train station . Easy check in. Comfortable room. Good breakfast . Short walk to cafes, shops and pubs. Road is noisy out the front of hotel so choise a room accordingly if a light sleeper.

Basic hotel at fair price

We booked the hotel looking for a basic hotel at a decent price. Our room was comfortable and breakfast good /plentiful. It is easy to find and has a small carpark. We didn’t eat in the restaurant or drink at the bar. Overall it fulfilled it’s purpose without setting the heather on fire.

Royal hotel, everything great

Our trip to Oban was for a family funeral so we were focused on that and we were lucky enough to get a parking space in the small carpark. The inside of the hotel was slightly tired as it’s an older hotel but it was very clean. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very well organised, the young waiter was nice and smiley. Cappuccino was brilliant 👌

Close to ferry terminal, railway station, harbour and shops. Hotel is tired and needs some money investing in decoration and furnishings to bring it up to date. Lift has to be the slowest, smallest lift I've ever used. Staff were all friendly and helpful, breakfast was good. Didn't use the bar or restaurant but seemed to be busy.
