The room had stains on the floor, the bedding was so outdated. My cousin dropped something behind the night stand and it was so dirty, I mean dirty like 20 years of dust/dirt. The window ceil was dirty. Bathroom was immaculate. The breakfast was good.

When we arrived we initially had a room without lake view…We were moved to second floor room with lake view (215). The inside lock system was broken. Looked as if someone had tried to break into room! We later discovered that the heat did not work in room. The thermostat was broken and hanging on wall. The front desk employee showed us another room and the heat did not work in that room either! She said that the heating system had been an ongoing problem. We went back to room 215 and were given two extra blankets and a small space heater! Overall not a good experience!

I was in a room with lake view. Gorgeous view it is. The hotel is older and heat does not seem to work. My room was equipped with a portable heater. The staff person was very religious and did not appreciate ghost jokes but overall, they were friendly and provided good service. The breakfast is nice, cereal and toast, yogurt, juices coffee. one can sit by the window and see lake view.

I love the location and I like to support businesses in northern Minnesota. The room had a lot of beds which was wonderful, two full beds and two single beds. There was water damage in the ceiling, which I think has mold, stains on the carpet and the pop machine was leaking water into the hallway. The staff was very kind and the location is Wonderful. It’s on Lake Superior, in town, walking distance, to restaurants. Our window wouldn’t close fully so it was open a quarter and we had 50 mile an hour ones our final night felt like the gales of December blowing us out to see lol

The breakfast was excellent for continental. Property has huge deferred maintenance. There were dirty tissues and other debris under the bed and the ceiling light didn’t work. The location is excellent. Parking on site.

I was very nervous after reading the reviews but we had a great stay. It's nothing fancy but the staff was great, the room had a beautiful view and it served its purpose. This location alone is worth the price we paid, which you're not going to find cheaper in Grand Marais. I mean, you're next door to World's Greatest Doughnuts! Maybe we just got lucky with our specific room but I think alot of the people in these reviews expected a 5 Star resort and just love to complain, but you get what you pay for! I would stay again!
