The room was nice & clean but the desk chair fabric was torn in a couple places & foam padding bulging out. We were surprised we could use the side door entry from lower parking area without having to use our room key. Also disappointed no coffee machine in room and lobby/breakfast coffee not available until 7 AM.

Disappointed in the overall condition of this hotel. Rugs were dirty in our room, bed mattress was like 20 years old. Our room window was broken with bugs flying inside it. breakfast was nonexistent. Muffins and cold pancakes are not acceptable. Needed hot food. Eggs/sausage etc. not really a fun experience for our time up there.

The property has not been updated in so long there are cigarette burns all over our carpeting. No coffee maker or safe. Carpet bubbling in hallways. Hands down the most run down, poorly maintained hotel in Grand Marais.

Dissappointing

Dated furnishings in the rooms, worn/stained carpet seemed like a different place from the updated lobby. Our hair dryer didn't work, told front desk, but it didn't get fixed. Small sign, which we didn't see regarding having to request to have the room cleaned. I appreciate the ecological perspective but wish this would've been verbally stated when we checked in. Breakfast was predominantly carbs.

The lobby and hallways and breakfast area have no air conditioning, it was stifling and felt like 80-85 degrees. Hard to eat when it’s that hot, also no elevator.

The pool and hot tub were nice. But they didn’t have any clean pool towels. We had to turn on the sauna and wait awhile for it to get hot. Our toilet would keep running until we jiggled the handle enough for it to stop. The beds were very hard. It’s a decent hotel and we’ve been staying here for years since I grew up in Grand Marais. It just needs to be updated.
