We have stayed at the Essex St. Inn 3 or 4 times. We love the quaintness, feels like you're staying in someone's home, not a uniform hotel room. Everything is so walkable, walk on the Trail by the water, they have swings & Adirondack chairs, restaurants & bars & shops are steps from the Hotel. Highly recommended!

Property was nice with a good location right in the center of downtown and close location to all restaurants and shops. Breakfast is included, I would say it’s more of a quick grab snack than breakfast, although I must say they have great cookies and desserts available all day.

We had a wonderful stay at the Essex Street Inn. We loved the cleanliness of the Inn. The Continental breakfast was just what we needed. Good selection of breakfast choices. Hope the Inn never changes the breakfast choices. Will go back.

A lovely place to stay, nice rooms and a rooftop porch for our room, in a handsome old house. Beautiful neighborhood and a short walk to the downtown and riverfront. The breakfast room was the only disappointment - an extremely loud ice machine made conversation impossible without shouting and the room wasn't very nice. Not a great breakfast - just prepackaged stuff and no hot water for tea.

Essex Street Inn is a wonderful place. It is conveniently located in the heart of Newburyport, close to many wonderful restaurants and shops. I liked that the Inn is an historic home refitted into an inn. The bed was comfortable and the room was plenty big enough for our needs (we stayed for one night in order to visit the Parker River NWR on Plum Island). The breakfast in the morning was perfect as they had plenty of stuff for a quick grab and go. The staff was very helpful and the room and facilities were very clean and well maintained.

Yes, for a free hotel breakfast it had very nice choices, from bagels, English muffins, muffins and toast to pre-prepared egg sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, cheese, fresh fruit and yoghurt and various cereals. Nearest restaurant breakfast is about $40 for two, so quite a savings.
