Was lovely, I had a good sleep the both nights that I was there, and it was very convenient to where my activities were. Would certainly stay there again

No one at reception when we arrived but a notice to go through to the bar to be seen to. Had to walk through the gaming room and heaps of pokies - not a good start. The check in was pretty perfunctory and the rooms when we got there were very definitely 1960 - 1970's. They were reasonable but the toilet and shower were within a couple of feet of each other and the floor was stone/tiles. In one of the rooms there wasn't even a chair to sit on. We decided to go to the bar for a drink - it was full of very noisy and somewhat inebriated young people who were doing their best to out-swear and out-yell each other. Went for a walk instead and found another hotel (Bushman's Arms) and had a drink there (staff were excellent and we had dinner there as well - really nice). Can't recommend the Naracoorte Hotel - it was basic but the lack of friendly contact and the behaviour at the bar was very off-putting as was the room facilities

Comfortable and quiet old style motel room with very good bed. Shower hot water pressure was poor, but overall the motel was good value.

1950s Timewarp

Pros: Locality
Cons: See above
Location: Stayed one night only
After arriving at the hotel in the evening, I had no idea where I had to go to check in. No signs indicating a reception. When I finally traversed the hotel, I found reception which indicated I needed to go to the game room for assistance. I got to the game room and stood at the service window waiting. Many staff walked past the area, looked at me and smiled. It was a patron that informed me I had to ring the metal bell to get attention. She suggested I ring it really loud otherwise the staff will not come and serve. After 30mins post bell ringing, I walked out to the dining room as it seemed all the staff were congregating there. The Barista finally offered me some time and suggested I wait and she'll find the 'boy'. After about 45mins, I finally received my key and was bid a good night. After realising my room was not in the main building, I relocated my car to an unlit car park and proceeded to what I can only call, a flashback to the 50s. When I got settled in, I attempted to connect to the 'Free WiFi'. After reading the accommodation book, the password can be obtained from reception. There was no phone in the room to call reception and I was all ready to settle in for the night and as considering my previous experience of service, I was not willing to trudge up to the main building again.
