"Clean room"
Clean room and friendly staff, shower very small and I did not like the dispensers on the wall in the bathroom. Foxtel did not work and I did advise reception, but in the end nothing came of it. We were there for the stallion parades but we were told that the motel did not have Sky Racing, as they are a mining town, which I thought was strange as other places in Muswellbrook do have Sky Racing and Scone, Horse Capital of NSW is just up the road. I suppose we would not have been able to see it anyway due to Foxtel not working.

Was the best price out there, front desk stayed up late for us to checkin past 9, cute little tea area, nice toiletries, cosiest bed, it's nice that a heater and flatscreen were included, I loved the 80s/90s decor themes. Overall great overnight/weekend room for couples :)

    Pocket Guide: Muswellbrook

Eager for a weekend getaway in the heart of wine country? Why not try the peaceful rural town of Muswellbrook? Located in the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales, one of Australia’s most popular wine areas, it’s a place where you can taste-test a fresh new drop, spend some time with nature or learn a little about the region’s history. A three-hour drive from Sydney, Muswellbrook is a worthy destination for a couple’s retreat, a family getaway or a road trip with friends. Whatever kind of holiday you’re after, we have the Muswellbrook hotel for you.

Once occupied by the Wanaruah and Kamilaroi people, the area was settled by Europeans in 1820. Four years later, Henry Dangar named an area at the junction of the Hunter River ‘Muscle Brook’ because he found a large amount of mussels on its shores (at the time, mussel was also spelt "muscle!"). In 1833 a township was laid out and for about 60 years it went by several different names, including Musclebrook and Muscletown (which would make a great name for a gym!). Today the Muswellbrook Shire includes Muswellbrook, as well as other small nearby towns like Denman, Muscle Creek and Sandy Hollow.

The area around Muswellbrook is full of horse studs and vineyards that are open and waiting for you to come and taste-test! Take a ride along the Upper Hunter Wine Trail, which takes you on a winding trip past over 27 wineries and through small outback towns like Denman and Scone.

To delve into the town’s past, take the Muswellbrook Heritage Walk, which features heritage-listed buildings dating back to the 1800s. If you want to see a little of its culture, visit the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre, where you’ll see the current exhibition as well as a permanent collection showcasing the work of local artists.

The Wollemi National Park, the second biggest national park in NSW, is only a short drive away. There you can explore the cliffs and rivers, rainforests and woodlands, and gives those joggers a workout. If you’re keen for some fishing, Lake Liddell is 15kms out of town, with a bird sanctuary, picnic and BBQ areas.

Peace, quiet, creativity, a spot to fish and a drop to drink. Wot more could you want? Book your Muswellbrook accommodation with us!
