Here you will see hundreds of colourful, wooden fishing boats bobbing in the water as fishermen sort through their daily catch, as well as the fish markets (open until 10:00am) where locals converge to buy and sell. The eastern end of Mui Ne is also where you’ll find the best local food. If you see a noodle soup stand packed with Vietnamese, it’s a sure fire ticket to some of the best meals in town so make sure you stop to try some.

Move west and you’ll find the backpacker, energetic section of Mui Ne where the sports travellers and young crowds gather. Even if you want to just soak up the sun on the beach, this is a great place to do it while you watch dozens of surfers cutting across the water in front of you. When the urge to join them sinks in, there are plenty of boards and watercraft (kayaks and canoes) waiting to be rented. All along the shores here you’ll find a mix of luxury hotels and bungalows, as well as restaurants, perched halfway between Phan Thiet – a coastal town with a local vibe – and Mui Ne. The best way to get around is to hire a scooter, which will take you from one side to the other. Just remember to drive around with care!
