After spending over £200 on the room booking (£140), refundable deposit (£50 - pay on arrival and refunds 3-5 working days) and parking (£11), I was left very disappointed and expected much better customer service. I've heard bad reviews before, but I had never experienced anything myself. I will now avoid Holiday Inn hotels and choose to stay at other hotels, even if it costs more. We were not aware of a £50 additional deposit to pay on arrival, and some may not be fortunate enough to pay this. We first entered our room to find hairs on our bed. I then went down to reception and was told by the receptionist that housekeeping would be with us straight away. I had another conversation with the duty manager, who requested that I email pictures. There was no urgency to this request, so I thought I would do this when I returned home and not spoil our experience further. Two hours had gone by since check-in and we had no visit from housekeeping to change the bed. I returned to the reception, this time far more assertive. The duty manager said the housekeeping request was cancelled as I had not sent any pictures. Firstly, what has happened to the customer always being right and secondly, why did they not come up to the room and take pictures for housekeeping in the first instance, if this was needed. I find this absolutely illogical. Anyway, after this fiasco and stress, 2:30 hours after check-in to our £200 stay, housekeeping arrived and they changed the bed.
