Extremely dirty. Sheets smelt of sweat; red stains on bedsheets and lots of hairs on the pillowcases I.e bed sheets and must not have been changed/cleaned. We booked two rooms upon Wotif labelling them as Family Friendly, however given the lack of cleanliness I would strongly suggest families with kids should consider avoiding the Pines Melaka for hygiene reasons alone. Corridors and walkways had very strong bad odours; one room did not have towels; requested fresh towels were left on the floor outside the room; towels had dark stains and smelt; rooms were dusty; Showers were mouldy. After speaking to several staffs, the verdict was due to cost pressures and work overload Quality (and Hygiene) was being compromised regularly. The staff were apologetic. We were appalled by these conditions and decided to get out immediately and check into a nearby hotel.

Nice new hotel that will be great in time

Pros: Pool, modern, quiet
Cons: A good final clean
Location: Within reach of the touristy places
Just out of the action which is fine if you don't mind walking. Pool is lovely. Breakfast was plentiful but the standard was a little low. The whole hotel is brand new, but to the point where it smells of concrete dust and some of the surfaces are still unfinished. The rooms are lovely and modern and we had a great view from the 23rd floor. Concierge was very helpful, but check in was a 15 min wait and then we were given a room with two singles. We were told our booking of the king bed was 'subject to availability' but were then given a room that we asked for. A hour later we did have staff enter our room unannounced (presumably their system wasn't updated) but it wasn't a good time for this to happen. Overall we would expect that most guests would have a good experience here.
