medieval watch tower and pool, near Florence, suitable for remote working

The villa is the oldest building of a medieval small hamlet and dates back to the XIII century, it was originally a watch tower, it has been recently restored keeping its original structure. The rooms are all on the first floor while the ground floor is not inhabited. The wide living room is central and has its original stone floor and fireplace, the 2 windows offer a wonderful view of the valley and from one of them you can see the lovely pool (13x7m). Both the living room and the kitchen open on a large porch ideal for sitting and dining in the open. Two of the bedrooms have double beds and one has 2 single beds, all the rooms have their original wooden beamed ceilings . Both bathrooms are modern and comfortable. A large room, provided with wireless internet and suitable for remote working is located at the ground floor, it is separate from the other rooms of the villa and it has a desk with its comfortable deskchair , a bookshelf and a long bench with pillows , this service is not included in the rental price. The villa has a private, large and fenced garden provided with outside furniture. The pool is located 250m from the villa and is shared with the guests of another holiday house of the medieval hamlet which belongs to the owner's family. In summer, after a day trip to one of the art towns of Tuscany you will appreciate your return to Torre della Musica where the evenings are always breezy. No need of air conditioning in the house, air conditioning is not provided, but we can provide fans on request ( no extra charge).
In May and October you may need heating, comfortable central heating is not included in the rental price .
The Municipality of Londa requires that each of our guests who are older than 12 years pays 2,5 Euro/ day up to 7 days of staying. You can pay this tax at your arrival. It will be my duty to give it to the Municipality.

Owner's profile:
The medieval hamlet was part of a century old farm which belonged to my mother's family. The farm is now run by my nephews, they farm organic and can offer excellent extra virgin oil from our olive groves and excellent wine from their beautiful vineyards. Torre della Musica ( the villa I offer for rent) is one of the 6 houses which make up the medieval hamlet, they belong to me and to my sisters. I spend as much time as I can in a house close to Torre della Musica because the place is green and peaceful and close to Florence even if secluded.

Beautiful

Adrianna is a lovely host and the villa is beautiful with amazing views and a very well kitted out kitchen which makes food prep easy. You can drive down to contea Londa and get the train to the centre of Florence (we did it a few times). The pool area is really lovely.

Not just a place to sleep!

What a wonderful place! We were warmly greeted and shown around and found the place to be fully equipped with just about anything we could want. We were at the end of our vacation, and spent some time exploring around, but were also very content to enjoy the view, and the property. It is a wonderful place with so much character - I highly recommend it!

Beautiful getaway

5 friends and I stayed at Torre della Musica and it was lovely. The photos don't do the place justice, the views are stunning. Adriana was incredibly kind and accommodating, even when we accidentally locked ourselves out at night she was kind enough to just lend us her key. I cannot recommend this place enough.

rural tranquility in a hill top hide away

just spent a week in this lovely villa. Adrianna, the owner has been so helpful with the booking and gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived. The house and gardens were immaculate and we loved the personal touches throughout. It was lovely to get away from it all and the house is self contained with everything we needed, allowing us to spend a very relaxing week in this quiet retreat.

perfect stay in this mediëval watch tower

Very clean and well-maintained property. Accurate description regarding the location. Adriana (owner) provides good and friendly service. We already recommended this house to friends and relatives. Lovely garden, perfect swimming pool and good wine of the house. Don't miss the pizzeria at Rufina and the restaurant at the lake in Londa!

Old World Charm

The stone house was like stepping back into the time of castles and knights. The setting was up in the hills above the nearest town. The hostess was kind and helpful. It provides the experience of living, shopping and driving through rural Italy.

Simply great!

We stayed at torre della musica for two weeks. Adriana is a wonderful host. The house is remarkable, outside and also interior. The kitchen was the best and most complete we saw in a long while. The distance to the pool was a bit more than we anticipated, but that was not a problem. Overall, we were very happy with everything. Full recommendation!

Beautiful home in the hills!

What a lovely home, with beautiful views from every window looking out onto the hills, gardens and olive groves. Adriana warmly greeted us and showed us around the property and kindly suggested places to explore. There were flowers in every room and a bottle of wine to welcome us on arrival. The quiet location, hearing the cicadas at night and being able to see the milky way was very relaxing after days spent visiting medieval hilltop towns, Florence and the beautiful Chianti region. We loved our time at Torre della Musica.

Off the beaten path - in a good way

This property is special. My goal in Italy was to not have everyone else’s holiday, and this place delivered. I won’t lie - I was a bit intimidated by the drive up to the house initially, but by the next day I was a pro. Didn’t spend much time in town other than shopping at the market. Easy train to Florence from the Contea-Londa station. Above all else, Adrianna is a pleasant and responsive host.

Beautiful property

If you looking for a quiet place in a beautiful setting look no further. The house is very spacious, way more than the 2 of us needed! This stop was the highlight of our 2 weeks in Italy. You will need a car to access the property but there is a train station just a short drive away and this is how I would recommend traveling into Florence. Lucca and Sienna are an easy 1 hour drive. Londa is a charming town with a small grocery store and a bar just down the hill from the house. Adriana was super nice and helped answer any questions we had about the area and travel. Looking fiorward to staying there again some day.

Fanastic, spacious and well-equipped villa

Just back from a week’s stay in this villa. We were very impressed by the amount of space that we had and how comfortable it was. It was perfect for relaxing after a hectic week of sight seeing. The villa was very well equipped and had everything you needed to cook for a large party. The nearest village (Londa) had 2 small supermarkets that’s well stocked, only downside was that fresh sea food was hard to come by. There was also a well stocked butchers and grocery in the village. We didn’t go to any local restaurants, so not sure of their quality. The views from the front and back of the villa were breath taking. I spent many happy hours just sitting on the balcony soaking up the views and reading.

Living in a fairy tale

What an experience! On the top of a mountain, a charming house, with an amazing view. The house was originally an old authentic tower. Inside the house the atmosphere is even more charming. But the most remarkable thing was how clean it was. At our arrival there were even fresh flowers in each room. Our hostess was a lovely woman with lovely sisters. One of these sisters gave us a guided tour in an olive farm. An interesting experience. Together with the whole family we really enjoyed the holidays. Thanks for the warm welcome, the lovely hostess and the charming house. Thanks Adriana for the great time!! Greets, Hilde, Dirk & kids

Lovely relaxing and unique property

We stayed for 2 weeks in August (4 adults, 1 child and our dog). Torre della Musica is a lovely property. The pictures do not do it justice. It is very comfortable with generous space in all rooms. It’s in a very quiet and peaceful  location set up in the mountain overlooking the valley towards Londa. The garden is well fenced so no problem letting our dog out to enjoy it, and was lovely to sit out in either sun or shade to read and enjoy the views over the mountains. The surrounding area also provided ample opportunity to walk out. A car is required, and we were happy to drive into Florence, using one of the underground car parks on the edge of the town centre and walk in. We also visited Pisa, Lucca and the nearby beach on a day out. Required an early start but was well worth it. The pool is a short walk through the olive groves a little way down the valley and is shared with a few other properties in the area. It is in a well maintained area with ample sunbeds and shades. Adrianna is very welcoming and a lovely host, thanks very much for the use of the property, we had a great time.

Lovely house and environment

The house itself was lovely, tidy and furnished with good taste. It had all the necessities (dishes, coffee makers etc) you need. As it said in the details it was far from it all and very suitable for the total relaxing holiday. In the other hand, the house is near it all, because we could easily reach Florence, Fiesole, Pisa etc. by car (from 30 min to 2 hours). The balcony was our family´s most favourite place. There we enjoyed breakfast and dinners listening to silence The restaurants nearby were very good, and specially the pizzeria in Londa was a cheap and food was excellent. We visited the winery just 8 km from the house and got good tips from the owner of the restaurants in other villages. And they were worth visiting. I recommend this house for them, who want to relax, but also to them, who like to explore nature and history. The house is suitable for the couples (very romantic) families with small children and also for those teens (need to get a lot of reading with them), who don´t mind to be away from internet connection. In the pool area there was an internet connection, but in the evenings it was too dark to walk there (250 m). Thanks for Adriana (the owner) for the warm welcome. We might be back :-)

Tranquility and Beauty in the Tuscany Hillside

My family and I stayed at Adriana's home for 6 nights. We found it full of character, beautifully decorated, yet easy to care for with a 3 and 5 year old. The yard was large and fenced in so the little ones could safely play outside. The rooms were spacious and lovely. Everything about this house has character. We loved sitting outside in the evening on the outdoor porch, drinking wine and talking. The view is stunning from the house and is, in our opinion, the top house in that area. It is a little walk to the pool but worth it. The view and tranquility surround you as you soak up the sun or swim in the pool. The train is easy to catch but you need to get the schedule beforehand to plan your trip- look for the "R" sign, as the R stands for train, otherwise you can take the bus in. Trains run frequently to Florence (50 minutes to get there) and you are dropped off at the city center. Adriana was very helpful and speaks English which was a help to us. Even though it is a late check-in you can spend some time at the pool before hand, with confirmation from Adriana, and just keep your luggage in your car until check in, so don't let the late check-in deter you. We loved this house and location so much we really didn't want to leave! Sharon D. Toronto Canada

Wonderfull time

Dear all, at the end of May, our family (2 adults, 2 children and the dog) stayed in Adrianas lovely house for two weeks. And we thoroughly enjoyed it being there. Plenty of room for everyone, all nicely decorated with Adrianas roses, great bathrooms and kitchen, wonderfully furnished bedrooms. Getting there was no problem at all, since Adriana sent uns very good descriptions before (car is needed though, since there are no buses or trains going up the mountains). Adriana lives next doors and always had time for us, if there was something to ask and since her English is excellent, communication was no problem at all. The children loved the pool, and the area near the house is great for mountainbiking (downhill trails within 20 minutes driving) and walking (national parks nearby with wonderfull paths and views). Shopping is no problem, supermarkets in Londa (4,5 km) or Dicomano (bit further, keep an eye on the funny traffic signs :-)). Driving to Florence takes a bit, but there is a train station in the next town and the train takes you right into the center of Florence. If you like motor bikes, you should go to the Piaggio museum in Pontedera (1 hour drive) which is fun to visit. Adriana gave us a list of the best restaurants in the region which was a great help, since there are so many. She also offered to make a reservation, our Italian is very bad. Surely we could (and WOULD) recommend this lovely place to anyone. Thanks, Adriana, we had a great time.

Magical property and gracious hospitality

Our stay at Adriana's gorgeous home exceeded our expectations. She is a kind, energetic, responsive host exuding Italian dolce vita not only in our interactions but also in the way she has created this magical property. There are happy flowers all over--inside and out--and the Tuscan landscape is gorgeous both near (right outside the doors and windows) and far on the surrounding hillsides. The home was perfectly neat, elegant, tastefully and traditionally decorated, well-stocked. We enjoyed sleeping with open windows which allowed us to wake to a symphony of birds each morning. The home is a very old watch tower, which provides quite an aesthetic vibe, but is also modern and comfortable in the important ways (i.e., the bathrooms and kitchen!) The pool area is a short hike down the hill and absolutely worth the walk. It's beautiful, serene, perfectly Tuscan and quite photogenic. My boys loved being in that pool and their only regret from our trip is that we spent more afternoons lounging there. I discovered a lovely hike (1-hour loop) from the property, and Adriana provided great tips for local restaurants and outings. Florence is about an hour's drive away--not too bad--although the fifteen minutes from Londa to the property is gorgeous but a narrow road that is a bit harrowing the first time but you habituate after a couple runs. Our most perfect afternoon of all our two weeks in Italy was a summer rainstorm that swept over the property. This place is the perfect combination of an elegant, classic structure plus natural elements of birds, bees, and rolling slopes. Along with Adriana's kindness and zest, this place is very special indeed. Thank you.

Heavenly!

We can not say enough good things about this property or about our hostess Adriana who lives in the house next door. She greeted us and spent time showing us all the features of this well-equipped house and even presented us with a bottle of delicious red wine from her family's vineyard and put vases of her beautiful pink roses in every room! She made sure we were comfortable and gave us great tips for visiting the region and local restaurants. She was always there to cheerfully answer any questions we had and spoke excellent English. Although the house is remotely located, we did not mind the drive through the hills since we were well rewarded with fantastic views of the Tuscan hills and a home with true character. Adriana has made sure that the home really feels like your home by providing a comfortable bed with nice linens and soft towels, a well stocked kitchen with plenty of dishes and cooking utensils and comfortable sitting areas both inside and out. It is beautifully decorated with her own personal treasures and was extremely clean and well cared for. One can tell she has a true pride of ownership of this property! We enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners on the covered terrace filled with pots of red geraniums and evenings listening to the sounds of nature. Although there is no air conditioning, the thick stone walls keep the inside temperature pleasantly cool and there are screens on the bedroom windows which provide plenty of air flow during the evening hours. We actually looked forward to returning to this rental every day to enjoy its ambience and relax in its surroundings after touring Tuscany in the hot summer sun. I highly recommend staying here and experiencing the true heart of Tuscany!
