Hotel was in a good location. Not down in the middle of the city, so quieter, but a short (10ish minute) walk to anything you would need. The front desk guy ok. Not super helpful, but got us checked in. The smell in the lobby is strong and doesnt smell good. But the smell was confined to the lobby. Room was spacious, clean, and quiet. There was a show at castle nearby we could see and hear from our room which was nice. (Concert was quiet by 10) overall, hotel was fine and i would stay again if i was visiting the area.

I recommend

The Strand is a very good example of understated competence. Mirroring the swans on the Shannon directly outside, you know a lot of skill and care must go in to keeping such a large and popular hotel "afloat" but to the observer, it seems so smooth and simple. Rooms are equipped for comfort and ease: there's storage so you can tidy your things away, and how guests would use the space is anticipated, including conveniently placed mirrors and a TV you can cast to from your own device. In short, The Strand is set up around the guests' requirements, and a stay there is truly comforting.

I was there for only one night-- wanted to visit King John's Castle (great destination and excellent exhibits) on my way back to the US. But the hotel is well located, well taken care of, with attentive and friendly staff. I'd definitely stay there again.
