Escape the hectic tourist hub of Phuket, with our great deals on Khao Lak hotels. Khao Lak is only an hour’s drive from Phuket and offers quiet, sandy beaches, bordered by palm trees and national parks. Opposite Khao Lak lies the Similan Islands, Thailand’s premiere diving destination. Khao Lak was badly damaged in the 2004 Asian Tsunami, but now the rebuilding and repairs are almost complete, and some say it is cleaner and better organised than before.
Our Khao Lak hotels are the perfect base for nature lovers to discover the area’s unspoilt beaches and three local national parks. See mangroves, estuaries, exotic plants and wildlife in the Khaolak/Laem Ru National Park. The park also boasts a Chinese temple, devoted to the wizard of the mountain, and is perched on top of a mountain overlooking the sea. Visit Sri Phang Nga National Park, 60km from Khao Lak, for some excellent walking trails through tropical rainforest mountains and valleys. Visit Thai Muang National Park between November and February and see turtles, including leatherback turtles, laying their eggs on Hat Thai Muand, also known as Turtle Beach. Also, visit Hat Bang Sat, north of Hat Khoalak, for great seafood from seaside stalls. There’s so much to do while staying in our Khao Lak hotels. You can simply relax on the area’s beautiful beaches, join a nature tour and explore the island’s interior, go sightseeing by elephant, go rafting in local rivers or trek through the rainforest.
While staying in our Khao Lak accommodation be sure to enjoy the high quality Thai cuisine and seafood on offer at the restaurants in most hotels and resorts. On the main road you will find a number of live music venues, but take a stroll along the beach and you will be able to choose from numerous bars and restaurants, which are the perfect place to enjoy the enchanting vision of the sun setting over the Andaman Sea.
Tourist high season is between November and April, but for optimum weather conditions, calm seas and less tourists it is recommended to visit Khao Lak between February and April. It is advisable to avoid visiting Khao Lak from late May to October, as this is the southwest monsoon season and the Andaman Sea becomes quite rough and is hazardous for swimmers and diving trips are frequently cancelled during this time.
