From check-in to check out this hotel was exceptional. The staff were helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Service was incredibly poor for being 5* Sat down for dinner at 8.30pm Ordered starter, mains and drinks Forgot one drink Starters hadn’t arrived by 9.15pm and to be told that the main we ordered 45mins previously was no longer available. Bill came with the original main still on it Lack of staff was evident throughout even after dinner getting a drink in the bar was 30 minutes with only us and another couple in the bar. Breakfast was poor quality. Wouldn’t return due to the cost and experience we had as it doesn’t equate.

It could have been better if I actually got my glass of red wine I ordered, I got my pot of tea at breakfast without having to ask a couple of times plus I had to ask when my room was getting cleaned (after 2pm) when I had been out of the room since 11am. Bedroom comfy with luxurious bedding and a lovely spa area.

Had a wonderful one night stay for a special occasion. Our primary reason for visiting was the spa and it did not disappoint. We used it the afternoon of arrival and the following morning before breakfast. It was lovely in the cold and we hope to experience it in warmer weather too. We ate dinner in the hotel and it was very pleasant. Breakfast selection and quality was excellent. Only some minor feedback: I had a cocktail in the State Room and it was fantastic, and when ordering the same drink in Bar 1745, it was very average. We were also charged for the wrong whisky (at a higher price) but this was changed at checkout without hassle. I’d really like it if the pizzas in Charlie’s were available year round!

The grounds are beautiful and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The breakfast spread is nice, with a wide variety, and the bar and restaurants provide multiple options for everyone's taste. Rooms are clean, and the spa was incredible. Highly recommend for everyone, even solo travelers who are looking to relax at a beautiful property.

- no availability in the restaurants for 2 of our 3 night stays (never experienced that in any hotel I’ve stayed in before) - we weren’t pre warned we would need to have booked in advance - felt like thy catered for external guests over those staying in the hotel - whilst they helped provide details of two other restaurants locally they were also fully booked - called down to reception from the room to change the time of a booking and they said they could cancel it but if I wanted to change the time I would need to physically go down to the restaurant myself as they were too busy - do a high class hotel in though this service was poor - cleanliness of the rooms was great but in some of the areas I would say it was poor - very dusty and in the restaurant the floors were filthy under the benches - the gin / whiskey bar was amazing and the manager was wonderfully helpful such fantastic service from her -

We enjoyed our relaxing spa weekend away at Schloss Roxburghe. We stayed in one of the cottages. Very cosy, very clean. However there were factors that could have been improved such as service from staff being relatively poor and check in and check out times are transient. Apart from these minor issues, there is nothing major to complain about this hotel. Would visit again!

The room itself was lovely — comfortable, stylish, and exactly what you’d expect from a five-star hotel. Unfortunately, a few details let the experience down. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed, which made service feel a little disorganised at times. We were told that booking for dinner was essential, but when we walked past later, the restaurant was mostly empty — a bit frustrating. There were also some issues with access to the spa, though thankfully we went earlier in the day and managed to get in without too much trouble. Dinner was where the experience really fell short. The Chateaubriand, which is a premium dish, arrived still tied with the string on — not what you’d expect from a five-star kitchen. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but a few avoidable details meant it didn’t quite live up to the five-star promise.

Lovely short break and very friendly, helpful staff. Two areas for improvement - cleaner tile grouting in the lovely shower, and a better bar service. Otherwise pretty much perfect for us, thank you

Stayed for two nights, room was good, food was good. Breakfast hot options not the greatest didnt give 5star bacon rind still soggy. Egg station is a good ofdering but on busy mornings large queues, coffee machine cant handle large volumes and toaster inadequate for busy breakfast service. Table Service in bar slow staff very pleasant but could be more attentive with observing drinks being liw and proactively ask if another is required begore glass is empty. Spa facilities really good, grounds kept immaculate would return
