Vine Cottage - Luxury Eco Retreat with Wood-Fired Hot Tub

Newly built in 2025 and winner of Sustainable Build of the Year, Vine Cottage is an award-winning eco bungalow in the Sussex village of Westfield — 10 minutes from Battle, 15 from Hastings and the sea. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms and open-plan living sit under vaulted ceilings, with a log burner, underfloor heating and a private south-facing garden. Add the wood-fired hot tub for a soak under the stars. Sleeps 6, plus an infant in a cot. Family built, family run.

The space

Everything is on one level once you're inside. The heart of the cottage is a bright open-plan kitchen, dining and living space under vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, a real log burner and a 65" Smart TV. The kitchen is set up for proper cooking: induction hob, combi oven, full-size fridge freezer, air fryer, Dolce Gusto machine, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.

The master has a king-size bed and en suite rain shower. Bedrooms two and three have zip-and-link beds that can be made up as kings or twins — just tell us how you'd like them and they'll be ready. Every bedroom has its own TV, and hotel-quality linen and towels are included. Travel cot and high chair on request.

Outside, the south-facing garden is a screened sun trap with outdoor dining, a BBQ and room for children to run about. Solar panels with battery storage, an air source heat pump and an EV charger (myenergi Zappi) mean the eco credentials are built into the fabric of the house, not bolted on.

Guest access

Self check-in from 3pm using a door code sent in the 24 hours before you arrive; check-out is 10am. Private driveway with easy parking for four cars. You'll get a digital welcome pack at least a week before you travel.

Other things to note

The wood-fired hot tub is an optional extra, priced per stay and available all year. It's chemical-free and filled fresh for every stay, and lighting it is part of the experience — it takes three to six hours to heat, so on winter arrivals we suggest lighting it after breakfast the next day for an evening soak. If you would like to add the hot tub onto your booking please contact the hosts 5 days before arrival to ensure the hot tub is included in your stay

There is stepped access from the driveway to the front door, so the cottage isn't step-free, though everything inside is on one level. No pets (registered assistance dogs welcome with notice). Strictly non-smoking indoors, including vapes, with a designated area outside.
